Panasonic Lumix G 20mm F1.7 ASPH Lens Review

The Panasonic Lumix G 20mm F1.7 ASPH was announced earlier this month as the natural companion to the compact Lumix DMC-GF1 Micro Four Thirds camera, alongside a Leica-branded 45mm F2.8 Macro (the camera is also available with a 14-45mm kit zoom). The...

Extremely small size and light weight - the perfect match for the E-P1 and GF1 ; Fast maximum aperture ; Impressive image quality at all apertures ; Good build quality, proper manual focus ring and non-rotating front element

Comparatively expensive (at least at launch) ; No lens hood

The Lumix G 20mm F1.7 ASPH is a lens that we've been looking forward to seeing for real ever since Panasonic first showed a mock-up back at Photokina 2008. The good news is that it's been well worth the wait - the 20mm is an excellent lens, especially...

Panasonic 20mm f/1.7 Lumix G Lens Review

Gary Wolstenholme reviews the Panasonic 20mm f/1.7 Lumix G, a pancake lens for Micro Four Thirds system cameras.

Excellent sharpness; Fast focusing; Good build quality; Compact design

Panasonic Lumix G 20mm f/1.7

Panasonic's 20mm impressive standard lens

f/1.7 fast aperture

slightly noisy AF

Lumix’s wideangle lens fully justifies its f/1.7 maximum aperture by delivering high resolution from wide-open to almost f/16.

REVIEW: Panasonic 20mm f/1.7 Lumix G Micro Four Thirds Lens Review

This 20mm pancake lens from Panasonic for Micro Four Thirds system cameras costs around £290 and sports a bright maximum aperture of f/1.7 and internal focusing.

Excellent sharpness; Fast focusing; Good build quality; Compact design

Drop off in contrast when shooting into the light

Those looking for standard lens with a fast maximum aperture cant go far wrong with this lens. It delivers sharp, contrasty images, focuses fast and is compact enough to make a pocketable combination with your Micro Four Thirds camera.

Great Lens

I am still learning about my camera and lenses. I\'m probably not the best person to listen to as far as how useful this lens is. I know I have been able to get some great shots I couldn\'t before. I really love how small it is and how sharp and clear...

a stellar performer

This lens give a pretty consistent output. most pics are super sharp. shooting up close, you have be careful to pick your focus, because it tends to shoot wide open. unlike my manual lens where 1 in 10 is useable if that. if used w a non panasonic...

Great pancake lens

This lens makes a very compact system with a small body like my Olympus E-PM1. It is so popular with Olympus users given in-body stabilization that lets you enjoy small lenses like this. Not so great for portraits with this focal length on MFT with its...

Compact, sharp, fast prime

A great, fast prime for travel because of compact design. Equivalent performer to full size DSLR lenses at a fraction of the size and price. One of the stars of the micro 4\/3 format.

Great lens

Just bought this lens to complement the Panasonic 14mm pancake. This lens clearly takes better picture with improved bokeh. Probably will keep this lens on the camera the majority of the time.
