Sigma 100-300mm f/4 EX HSM DG AF Review Round-Up

The Sigma AF 100-300mm f/4 EX HSM DG is one of the most impressive Sigma lenses tested to date. It is able to deliver a near-flawless performance with great resolution figures, low vignetting, low distortions, low CAs and a very decent bokeh (albeit...

Although most photographers tend to discus the big, fast, pro lenses, the vast majority actually sold are affordable zooms.

Sigma 100-300 mm f/4 DG EX APO IF HSM

The Sigma 100-300 f/4 EX DG APO HSM is one of the most interesting telephoto lenses on the market. You do not have to spend an enormous amount of money to buy the lens, while at the same time it offers a solid build, good overall specifications and,...

Sigma 100-300mm f/4 EX DG HSM

Here is a lens from Sigma that fits into the medium to long telephoto range and is a step up from the average 70-300mm models. It sports a constant aperture of f/4 and Sigma's HSM autofocus motor. We take a look at how it performs.

Constant aperture and length; Fast, silent autofocus; Good contrast and resolution

Some CA around the edges at the long end

New multi layer coating of this lens gives superb color performance whilst cutting down flare and ghosting caused by reflections from the digital image sensor. High optical performance is demonstrated throughout the entire zoom range

REVIEW: Sigma 100-300mm f/4 EX DG IF HSM

This telephoto zoom from Sigma costs around £800 and is fairly unique in its zoom range and aperture, being 100mm longer than most popular 70-200mm lenses, but with a brighter maximum aperture than popular 70-300mm lenses.

Good resolution throughout zoom range; Quick focusing; Good build quality

Loss of contrast when shooting into the light; 82mm filter size

This unusual lens is an excellent performer overall. It is capable of producing images with great clarity and the build quality is good enough to take a fair bit of use and abuse.

REVIEW: Sigma 100-300mm f/4 EX DG

Constant aperture and length; Fast, silent autofocus; Good contrast and resolution

Bigger size and weight than the lower group; Some CA around the edges at the long end

As a step up from the run of the mill >300mm zooms this lens is certainly worth considering. The constant aperture and faster, quieter autofocusing make all the difference, ably helped by a constant length and internal focus mechanism to make...

Sigma 100-300mm f/4 EX IF HSM APO review by Lomskij

Let's start with pros - I really like the build quality of this lens, which is unusual for Sigma. It's built like a tank, metal barrel, zoom and focus rings operate very smooth, nothing to fault here. Also the autofocus is really silent and accurate,...

Built like a tank, fast focus

Optics could be better, bokeh
