Sigma 18-125 mm f/3.8-5.6 DC OS HSM

A couple years back, when Canon 300D and Nikon D70 reigned over the market of amateur DSLRs, the choice of substitutes of kit lenses was small, and the “kits” presented mediocre quality. And, as nothing makes the producers indolent more than lack of...

sturdy body for this class ; very good image quality at the center of the frame at all focal lengths ; good image quality at the edge of the frame in the range 18-70 ; the lowest distortion in this class ; the lowest vignetting in comparison to the...

worse image quality at the edge of the frame at the maximum focal length ; large distortion at the wide angle

Sigma AF 18-125mm f/3.8-5.6 DC HSM OS (Canon) - Review / Test Report

The Sigma AF 18-125mm f/3.8-5.6 DC HSM OS is an interesting lens with a couple of high and lows which is quite typical for such extreme zoom range lenses. The resolution characteristic is generally decent - only the soft borders at 125mm may be really...

Sigma 18-125mm f/3.8-5.6 DC OS HSM review by Gunars Grinvalds

I purchased this lens last week for my Sony A200 on purpose to replace Sony's old DT3,5-5,6/18-70 kit lens. I perform some tests to compare new lens with my Sony 18-70 and Sony DT 4-5,6/55-200 lenses.

Good sharpness, accurate, sufficiently fast and quiet AF, solid construction, reasonable price

Somewhat high chromatic aberration in 18-50 mm zoom region

Important update: I discovered today, a year after posting the review below, that in fact this lens takes quite sharp photos wide open, but you have to focus manually, or use the slow focus in live view on a Canon. The autofocus just doesn't deliver at...

Versatile, very good photos if you know what you're doing

Some chromatic aberration at edges
