Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8-4.5 DC OS HSM review by Alexsoox

This is a great lens for two hundred bucks. The construction is very nice. Very sharp at over f6. Compare to the Nikon 35mm/1.8 at ~25-40mm f6-11 is very hard if not impossible to tell the differents at the computer. I was a little worry ordering this...

Cheap,Sharp

Not full range f/2.8

I just got the lens and took some picture with hot shoe flash at night, this is what I think about the new Sigma 18-50 F2.8-4.5 OS HSM

Affordable, sharp at F4 - 8, OS worked, closeup/macro is a bonus @ 20cm, non rotating zoom

Soft @2.8, nothing else ATM until I run a field test

Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8-4.5 DC OS HSM review by ksbuehler

I concentrated my tests on performance at F2.8 and 18mm, as that is what I care about. I have a 45mm TSE 2.8 and 70-200mm F4L IS to cover other focal lengths.

light, inexpensive, 18mm @ f2.8 with stabilization, HSM

a bit of Chromatic aberration, focal field curvature

This standard zoom for DSLRs with APS-C or smaller sensors cost £250 and includes optical stabilisation technology and a HyperSonic focusing motor.

Internal focus and zoom; Optical Stabilisation; Good resolution at wider apertures; Low distortion

Resolution falloff at smaller apertures

REVIEW: Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8-4.5 DC OS HSM

ePHOTOzine's expert Gary Wolstenholme takes a long look at one of Sigma's zoom lenses.

Internal focus and zoom; Optical Stabilisation; Good resolution at wider apertures; Low distortion

Fingers tend to catch on rotating focus ring; Resolution falloff at smaller apertures

Overall, this lens isn't a bad performer and will suit those looking either for a replacement upgrade to their standard 18-55mm kit lens, or a solid starter lens that covers the standard focal ranges.

best value if you look for a studio lens between 24 and 35 for aps-c (except productfotos)

but my standard studio lens between 24 and 35mm at f8 too f11, best handling, no extension, stabilisized and fast and excact AF

a lot of optical disadvantages, if you use this lens outdoor at 18 or 50mm wide open, ok from 24 too 35mm

A great upgrade.

Excellent lens for money paid, this lens arrived in great condition and in full working order with no marks or imperfections to the glass. I bought this lens as an upgrade to the standard 18-55mm lens on my Canon 450d and I have been very pleased with...
