Sigma 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 DC Macro OS HSM

The 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 DC Macro OS HSM is the latest in a long line of all-in-one 'superzoom' lenses from Sigma, having been announced in June 2012. It offers two main developments over its predecessor, the confusingly similarly-named 18-250mm...

13.9x focal length range with impressive closeup capability, ideal general purpose / travel lens ; Fast, quiet autofocus ; Effective image stabilization (about 3 stops benefit at all focal lengths) ; Good build quality, smooth zoom ring action and...

Somewhat soft wide open in the middle of the zoom range ; Very strong pincushion distortion across much of the zoom range

The Sigma 18-250mm F3.6-6.3 DC Macro OS HSM is one of the best of the current bunch of SLR superzooms, with decent optics, fast autofocus and effective image stabilization. It's a reliable performer, and its close-up capability is handy too.

Huge 13.9x focal length range, ideal general purpose and travel lens ; Good image quality in the wide to short telephoto range ; Fast, quiet autofocus ; Low distortion (for a superzoom) ; Good build quality, smooth zooming action and no zoom creep

Very inconsistent sharpness through the zoom range - extremely soft at 135mm ; Soft corners at almost all focal lengths ; Image stabilization not as effective as on similar lenses, especially at telephoto end

The Sigma 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM, perhaps unsurprisingly, seems very much to be a case of 'take the 18-200mm OS, make it longer', and exhibits much the same characteristics as the older design. It's therefore a lens which takes a slightly...

Great pick for amature

I am an amature, have kids doing concerts to sports indoor and outdoor. I bought this lens because it is affordable and great quality. I do not have to change lens anymore, one lens for any activity. Exactly wat I am looking for.

Affordable Price ; Fast Focus ; Great Photo Quality ; Light Weight ; Perfect For Amature

A Little Tight To Operate
