Sigma 30mm f/1.4 EX DC HSM Lens

A fast aperture lens always garners attention and the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 EX DC HSM Lens is no exception. Photographers wasted little time in making this lens one of their favorites. Adding a relatively low price point, fast HSM autofocusing, small size...

Sigma 30mm F1.4 EX DC HSM

The Sigma 30mm F1.4 EX DC HSM ($690 list) is the APS-C version of the classic fast 50mm lens that, before the popularity of zoom lenses, was the standard lens paired with 35mm SLRs. This lens is a little shorter than 50mm on an APS-C camera—its field...

Fast aperture. Available for many camera systems

Expensive. Soft images. Noticeable distortion

The Sigma 30mm F1.4 EX DC HSM is a fast normal angle lens for APS-C cameras, but suffers from a lack of sharpness and a good amount of barrel distortion.

Sigma 30mm f/2.8 EX DN

The Sigma 30mm f/2.8 EX DN is the closest thing to a “fast 50″ that we can get right now for Sony's NEX models in the native E-mount. I've been playing with it for a couple of days and, in short, I think it's a nice complement to the 18-55mm kit lens....

Sigma 30mm f/1.4 EX HSM DC AF Review Round-Up

We all know that zoom lenses are compromises regarding speed and performance but we expect fix-focals to perform better than that. Sigma AF 30mm f/1.4 EX HSM DC may perform pretty good in absolute terms but for a fix-focal the lens disappoints a...

Sigma 30mm f/2.8 EX DN review by iffo

I agree with Andrew. The Sigma 30 mm EX DN is a lens that is comfortable in the hand, finished solidly and which focuses quickly and quietly. For a micro-43 lens, the Sigma 30 mm EX DN is not very compact, but that is precisely an advantage for those...

High resolution in the center Solidly built and beautifully finished Free pouch Low priced

No built-in image stabilization Reasonable performance in terms of distortion and chromatic aberration Resolution in the corners is less than in the center

Sigma 30mm f/2.8 EX DN review by keekimaru

After making a complete switch from 4/3 to m4/3, the 14-42mk2 kit lens, though very good, just wasn't doing much for my creativity.

sharp lens - great for m4/3

Sigma 30mm f/2.8 EX DN review by dennishh

Overall sharpness of this lens was a completely welcome surprise, even at f2.8. At f5.6 the Sigma is phenomenal. Because of it's size I have a tendency to leave this lens on my NEX 7 more than any other lens. I would recommend to any serious photographer.

Small, Light, inexpensive and very sharp

No lens shade

Product Specifications

This product is a dedicated APO teleconverter that can be mounted between select lenses and the camera body to increase the focal length by the power of 1.4. It is compatible with the lens autofocus function, depending on the open-aperture F value of the lens being used, and it works with the AE (Automatic Exposure) function, dispensing with complicated exposure calculations. It also offers maximum photography magnification by 1.4x, without any variation in the minimum focusing distance. Compact and lightweight, this teleconverter converts your lenses into longer focal-length lenses, so you don't have to do a lot of unnecessary footwork.
