Sony Carl Zeiss Vario Sonnar 16-35 mm f/2.8 T* SSM

At the beginning of September 2008 the first Sony full frame reflex camera, marked with the A900 symbol, was launched. Apart from that, two new lenses were presented in the same time – a Carl Zeiss Vario Sonnar 16-35 mm f/2.8 T* SSM and a Sony 70-400...

a tasteful, very solid barrel ; brilliant frame centre picture quality ; very good frame edge picture quality for the APS-C/DX sensor for the range of 16-24 mm ; good frame edge picture quality for the full frame sensor at the range of 16-24 mm ; low...

weaker frame edge performance at maximum aperture ; high full frame chromatic aberration at 16 mm ; very high coma in full frame corners ; huge vignetting on full frame

Sony Carl Zeiss Vario Sonnar 16-35 mm f/2.8 T* SSM

Love it!

Build quality, focusing, image quality. The colours and contrast just "pop" and the lens is fantastically sharp all over the range

Extreme corners at 2.8 vignette and distort, but if you use this on full frame you'll barely notice. Also it is heavy and large, which I guess is a necessary downside with a lens of this quality
