Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 SP XR AF Review Round-Up

The Tamron AF 28-75mm f/2.8 SP XR (forgive me for using a shorter variant of the name …) proved to be a very good lens in the lab. The resolution figures are among the highest tested among the standard zoom lenses - the center resolution is generally...

Tamron AF 28-300mm F/3.5-6.3 XR Di VC LD Aspherical [IF] Macro Zoom Lens

When I was selling camera gear one of the most common complaints I heard from customers was that their lens wasn't sharp. It wasn't poor optics that was giving them blurry pictures, the blur was caused by their not being able to hold the camera still...

The new Tamron AF 28-300 zoom with Vibration Compensation technology gives sharper pictures without using a tripod

Tamron AF 28-300mm F/3.5-6.3 XR Di VC LD Aspherical [IF] Macro Zoom Lens

I did have some intermittent trouble with auto-focus on the Nikon D3 I had in for review but on my Nikon D100, the lens performed perfectly. Zooming in and out was done with a quick twist of the wrist, great for getting in tight on the action. AF speed...

Tamron SP70-300mm DiVC

I've owned 2 of the canon version of this lens & was extremely disappointed in them past 150mm. This Tamron that replaced my Canon lens simply blows them away in sharpness.

This is the BEST option for someone not wanting to invest a lot of $$ on a lens in this zoom range. It has excellent image quality. The VC works excellent for 300mm hand held shots

Not a macro, but then again I did not purchase for that use

Newegg or Tamron should give me rebate 50.

just so so. Nothing special

I ordered this one on 12/10/2010 because it has the rebate $ 50. I sent the rebate form to Tamron, but today I got the notice from them saying this item was not included in this rebate ; Finally I found one fact: newegg sent the same camera with...

Acceptable lens at a great price

Without IS, you're going to be shooting at ISO400 or 800 most of the time at 300mm in order to get the necessary shutter speed, especially on an APSC sensor, which makes this lens effectively 450mm-480mm. Most SLR bodies will handle that without any...

For a 300mm telephoto, this lens is amazingly cheap. The macro focus is also very nice, and allows one to get very close to small objects, even from a short distance away (while my 28-80mm's macro nearly requires you to press the lens against the subject)

Now for the things that aren't so nice. This lens is soft at 300mm, even stopped down to the typical f8-f11 range that usually helps telephotos. That isn't to say that stopping down doesn't help, merely that it takes the lens from terrible (at f5.6) to...

Very Good Lens

I do have to wonder Why Canon only has a 1 year warranty and Tamron 6,Come on Canon! Overall a good starter lens that can get some very nice shots

This is a alternative to the "kit" lens that Canon sells for its line,I have both and have found the Tamron to be a much more useful lens in this price range,It also has a neat macro switch/mode which is very useful ; They do warranty these lenses for...

It is a little slow at auto-focusing but to be fair so is the Canon one. Also not so good in low-light as most Zooms are not

Great sharpness for the money!

Probably like everyone else, I\'ve considered Canon\'s own 17-55 f\/2.8, but at ~$1,000, it\'s out of my budget as photography is just a hobby. I\'ve considered Sigma\'s OS as well as Tamron\'s VC versions, and this lens is the best bang for the buck....

Great replacement for kit lens

I have been very impressed with this lens so far - the first third-party lens I have purchased. Image quality has been very good, a nice fast lens down to F2.8. Only con is that the zoom is pretty stiff - not a nice, easy movement between ranges.
