Tamron 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di LD Macro 1:2 AF Review

While the larger pixels on our full-frame EOS-5D test bed helped some aspects of this lens' performance, its distortion and vignetting become quite high when you ask it to cover the full 35mm frame. Stopped down, it might do in a pinch, but if you've...

Tamron AF70-300mm lens review

This Tamron takes zooming capability beyond your everyday kit lens

Well built and powerful lens ; Great zoom performance

Can feel a bit heavy ; Lens can’t be used if hood is inverted

The Tamron AF70-300mm f4-5.6 Di VC USD is a good addition for any growing camera setup. It can facilitate clear and bright looking shots at full zoom, and it's also useful for portraits.

Tamron AF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di LD Macro review

Light in weight and price for a full-frame telephoto zoom lens

Only a third of the price of some budget telephoto zooms ; Decent optical performance at the short end of the zoom range ; Quite light in weight for a full-frame lens

Lacks Tamron's Vibration Correction stabiliser ; Poor sharpness in the 250-300mm zoom range ; Basic autofocus system is very sluggish

One of Tamron's Digitally Integrated (Di) lenses, the AF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di LD Macro is designed for use on both full-frame and APS-C-sized cameras. It's available in Canon, Nikon, Pentax and Sony fit and, on APS-C bodies, the effective zoom range is...

Tamron AF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 LD Di macro (Pentax K) - Review / Lab Test Report

Regarding its extremely low price tag you can't really expect a stellar performance from the Tamron AF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 LD Di macro but from a value perspective it is fairly amazing what it can give you. The resolution is very good till 200mm. At 300mm...

Good macro, nice design

Average performance, slow AF

Good macro and a nice design, but control over fringing fails to impress and you need to stop down to get best results

Tamron 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di LD Macro

The 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di LD Macro from Tamron has a fairly robust, chunky design, which is surprising considering it weighs in at just 435g.

Consumer review (newegg.com)

Nice for the price

I purchased this as a gift. This is a pretty good entry level tele zoom. Low light performance suffers without a monopod or tripod, and the af is slow sometimes, especially in low light, but pre-focus manually first, not a problem getting sharp images....

Very sharp even wide open.

No IS. Plastic mount.
