Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 AT-X Pro DX Lens

The Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 AT-X Pro DX Lens review is the first Tokina lens review I've had the pleasure of creating. And it has been a very positive experience. This is a well-built, ultra-wide angle lens that has very good overall image quality and, at...

The rear-positioned (where I like it) zoom ring is smooth with no play or wobble and a nice amount of rotation. Zoom ring rotation is in the opposite direction of Canon lenses (the same as Nikon lenses). The Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 AT-X Pro DX Lens does...

Tokina 11-16 - crop sensor approved!

Tokina is one of the lesser known 3rd party brands for Canon, Sony and Nikon bodies but that doesn't mean they aren't top quality. Tokina found success with their AT-X series ( Advance Technology ) and they hit the mark square on with the AT-X 116 PRO...

Perfect for architectural interiors

Recently bought this lens to photograph architectural interiors with my Nikon D7000. So far I have had consistently impressive results with this lens. Sharpness, colours, contrast and autofocus all spot on. Also very little distortion & F2.8 aperture...

Nicely surprised

Surprisingly sharp; little soft around the edges when wide open. Not too heavy. Quick and accurate autofocus - not a lot of seeking on a D7000.

Great Lens

this lens is fantastic! i was torn between the sigma 8-16 and this tokina, and i\'m really happy with my choice. the f2.8 gives a lot of range and the lens is super sharp, especially for a wide angle. i\'ve had next to no distortion or vignetting so...

A fine lens, I\'m glad I bought it

I bought this lens on the strength of Ken Rockwell\'s review and some fantastic pictures on Flickr\'s Tokina 11-16 group. I didn\'t know I wanted a wide angle zoom until then. Does that make me sound a bit stupid? However, I love this lens and it has...

Best wide angle available for DX

Having been through a lot of the options available to cover the wide end on a D7000, I finally tried the 11-16 - delighted i did and bought it immediately. The build is superb, the lens has a great mechanical feel to it, particularly the focus clutch...

Pinsharp, fast, better than Nikons 14-24

Have used the Tokina 11-16 for all purpose use including event photography, static displays, landscapes, and holiday photos. Used with a D300. Best to consider this lens a prime lens - I rarely use the 16mm end of the zoom as 11mm is just fantastic....

Product Specifications

The Tokina AT-X 116 PRO DX is an ultra-wide angle lens with a fast f/2.8 aperture for better photography in low-light situations. Many photojournalists consider having an f/2.8 aperture a must for any lens in their camera bag. Based on the award-winning optical design of the AT-X 124 PRO DX (12-24mm f/4) lens, the AT-X 116 PRO DX has a slightly shorter zoom range to maintain optical quality at wide apertures. Tokina's exclusive One-touch Focus Clutch Mechanism allows the photographer to switch between AF and MF simply by snapping the focus ring forward for AF and back toward the camera to focus manually.
