Tokina 12

The 12-24/4 is Tokina's offering in the popular "superwide zoom" category for APS-C format digital cameras. In this category it competes with the Sigma 10-22, Tamron 11-18 and Canon 10-22. None of these lenses has full frame 35mm coverage and so all...

While convenient in theory, the action is a little stiff, so switching between modes with the camera up to your eye isn't as smooth as it might be. Still, it is quicker than having to find and throw an MF/AF switch and it is possible to switch from AF...

Tokina 12-24mm f/4 AT-X 124 AF PRO DX II review by tclune

This lens is wonderful! It is well-made, tack-sharp, focuses well and is virtually without CA (which I attribute to my D5000 's processor rather than the lens itself, but on that body this lens is a marvel).

sharp, high-contrast, excellent color fidelity UWA

I had this lens for a few years before moving to a FF camera. It always good in the hand - good materials and smooth operation. I did have to correct for CA a bit, though.

Solid build, sharp, low distortion, price

Chromatic abberation

I have taught and practiced design and architecture for nearly 40 years . I bought this lens to photograph architecture and interiors and record my work. I think I have a well trained eye and I have found this lens to be more that satisfactory, it...

Well constructed, very good value, quite capable

disappointment

Felt like a nice piece of equipment first, well built, zoom ring and manual focus ring working smoothly without any play. However, after using the lens for landscape shots it turned out all images were soft, even right in the center. If you use...

Awesome build

I just got the 12-24 II today. I tried out a few shots inside the house and was impressed by the quality/sharpness of the pictures so far. I can say the lens build seems very solid. The rubber focus and zoom rings had a very tactile feel and a smooth ...

Great lense for D60- you don't need auto focus!

I was going to buy another model Tokina which has inbuild motor for autofocus and costs 100 $ more then this one, but bought this and I'm glad by two reasons! The first reason -lense by itself is perfect! Second -while reading manual I found that...

I love this lens

I love this lens

I love this lens, bang for the buck it beats the Nikon 12-24 hands down. I have had this for about five months now and made several hundred shots. Mostly landscape and architecture with some up close and personal shots thrown in. This lens has a small...

Product Specifications

The Nikon mount AT-X 124 PRO DX II has a built-in AF motor drive. The motor inside the lens was loaded onto the Nikon mount specification anew. The AF operates smoothly and quietly due to a DC motor that uses a new AF control gear assembly. With the built-in motor, the lens can be used in AF mode with the Nikon D60 and D40 and other silent wave bodies. The optical system of original AT-X 124 PRO DX won awards for its sharpness world-wide. This design was maintained in the AT-X 124 PRO DX II and improved with the introduction of new multi-coating_ system. The new multi-coating helps reduce reflections that can cause flare and ghosting even more than in the AT-X 124 PRO DX. The AT-X 124 PRO DX II features the one-touch focus clutch mechanism. To use the one-touch focus clutch mechanism, move the focus ring forward, towards the front of the lens, for AF or back for MF. This allows for a fast and easy manual over-ride in difficult lighting situations. Coatings - Multi-layer Coatings Minimum Focus Distance - 11.8 in.
