Nexus Player

Google has had several stabs at TV over the years and the Nexus Player (£79 / $95 USD) is its latest. Based on the new Android TV OS, it's out to fill the crowded niche of small streaming boxes for accessing Netflix, on-demand video, music and games on...

YouTube on TV done right ; Clean and responsive interface ; Useful voice search

Plenty of rough edges ; Sparse app collection ; Limited for gaming ; Remote needs Next and Previous buttons

great tv viewing life changer. great xmas present

add es file explorer to expand the memory/storage potential of the unit. To add Kodi for unlimited viewing pleasure :) First add Kodi from google play store then inside Kodi. 1. System 2. File Manager 3. Add Source 4. 5. Name...

Easy to Install KODI. has microusb plug connection for versatility. stylish design, small footprint. it can be put just about anywhere since it uses bluetooth and not infrared. speedy. since it's a nexus google makes updates available. marshmellow 6.0...

since it only has 1gb ram it can lag on game intensive ram demand. the low 8gb hard drive (of which only 5gb is available when you start) is not enough for people who may want to add a few games for the kids. no ethernet but you can purchase a microusb...

Wanted this to be good

Well I bought this on the day of release. I so wanted this to be good. I wanted this to put Roku and AppleTV off the market. But sadly my expectations have not been met. About once a month I turn it on to update software and see if it got any better....

It looks sleek. Good paper weight. The UI is ok.

Where to start... It's riddled with issues. Doesn't have the power to transcode movies from plex, making my computer do the work. Not many app vendors are supporting it.

Don't buy.

I have had this since it came out. In that time, there have been no noticeable updates to this device. the voice control is buggy. So buggy that I turn to my phone as an input method most of the time. There are no volume controls (?!?!), though many...

feels like a very solid, well-built puck.

is a piece of garbage. It's better used as a hockey puck.

Unfinished beta state product, at best

This is one of those products made for the strategic benefit of those making it and with little concern for the purchaser. Avoid.

Plays Netflix well, but don't pause it. Hardware not completely awful.

Crashes a shocking amount, UI is a glitchy mess, too much reliance on voice search, pause it and it's more likely than not to forget where it was, and you can't actually turn it off.

plays netflix

whould have been fine until they decided to un-support es file explore so you can't use usb drives or get apps like kodi so in the long run your better of just getting a small form factor pc

I wouldn't recommend it.

Simple and easy to use layout and the ability (with know how) to run most android applications from a TV.

After less than 12 hours of owning and 5 installed games (from the players store nothing external at all) I have already hit the memory limitation - which is the only and most serious downfall this box has. The lack of an external sd slot for...

Great Android TV Set-Top Box!

This is the first Android TV device I have purchased as I believe it is the only one on the market at this time. I've always been a "beta" tester when it comes to tech devices, so I thought, "what the heck"? I am very impressed with the build quality...

- HDMI Output - Small Footprint - Quiet Operation - Chromecast from other devices - It's a Nexus device so it will get Android updates faster than third party Android TV devices. - Packaged Well
