HP Pavilion Elite e9240f

When we hear a product described as middle-of-the-road we tend to see it in a negative light, but the HP Pavilion Elite e9240f is in the middle and at just $950 that is a very good thing. On one side of this "road" you will find the gaming PC...

Lots of ports. Blu-Ray

Not expandable. Excessive bloatware

The HP Pavilion Elite e9240f is a good combination home PC, gaming rig, and multimedia center for under $1000.

Garbage and garbage support !

Paid for onsite support and they only replace sent parts that were sent to customer and do not test or do other work.

There is notheing good to say about a unit that I have never been able to use or get proper support for ; The tech suppor at the purchase store confirmed every thing that I list here (most of it in writing)

Support says warranty starts when seller purchases unit from hp ; On third mother board and second hard dissk drive each time they work on it more goes wrong

Blu Ray doesnot work

Stable machine, works well, except for the glaring Blu Ray problem, which is really a bad problem if you bought this machine for home theater.

Lot of processing power and memory

Blu Ray does not work, outdated software/firmware

Fast and QUIET and full of Features

The machine is stuffed with so many features it is unlikely anyone would find it lacking. It performs all tasks with ease. It would make a great mediacenter PC connected to a large screen HD monitor via HDMI to watch blu ray disks and anything else on...

Flawless performance. To get Blu Ray playback, 8 GB of RAM and 1 TB hard dive and a QUAD CORE processor and a great graphics card AND a TV tuner. Amazing! Everything works as it should. It also is nicely built and looks good too

There is the usual bloatware that needs to be deleted. The hard drive is only 5400 RPM

Reliability Issues

Could not access recovery disk. Only screen it would give was boot utility (f10). (f9) & (f11) keys were not accessible. Sorry for the bad review but in the two weeks I have had the machine, it has been nothing but a nightmare.

Fast. HD monitor terrific. Wireless mouse/keyboard setup a breeze

From day one had problems with screen freezes and crashes particulary when bring CPU out of sleep mode. Tech support unable to identify source. If I was using for business I would be out of business

NOT a good computer

This system took me 3 weeks to set up. After that, I still had no HD programming coming through my computer, although that could have something to do with my cable company. In any case, I lost my wireless internet connection, and the HP correction...

Very fast processor

HD channels don't come through in HD ; lost internet capability and HP support was deplorable ; HP recovery software ineffective

Update as promised..

Updating my review on 01/10/10. HP tech support concluded that it was a hardware problem with the graphics card. I posted the problem on forum and was lucky enough to find someone very familiar with this issue (Thanks Scorrpio!). The...

Good, but not good enough

I liked it for the first week, then realized I needed more power to upgrade to a better graphics card.

Fast processor, nice setup. Good for beginner, not good enough for intermediate to expert

Graphics card, Blu-ray didnt work out of the box. After 10 mins of use it said the raid controller was unplugged. Yet I had not done anything for that to happen
