Netgear NeoTV MAX Streaming Media Player

Netgear has brought a trio of streaming media players to market. The top-shelf model is the NTV300SL or NeoTV MAX is reviewed here by Home Theater Review reviewer Adrienne Maxwell.

The NeoTV MAX offers a nice assortment of Web services, including Netflix, Hulu Plus, VUDU (with Apps), CinemaNow, Pandora, Rhapsody, and the just-added SlingPlayer app ; Wired and wireless network connections are available ; The box supports a 1080p...

The box has issues with speed and reliability The MyMedia app for streaming personal media files is glitchy ; There's no Apps store to browse and add services, and the channel lineup currently does not include Amazon Instant Video ; The connection...

Netgear's new trio of streaming media players represents a very good value in the category. For $50, you can add streaming Web services like Netflix, VUDU, Hulu Plus, and YouTube to your HDTV with 1080p output and a wired network option (that's a lower...

Netgear NeoTV Max with Slingplayer review

A SlingCatcher alternative comes to NTV300SL and its siblings

Updated with a Slingplayer app ; Cheapest media streamers ; Easy-to-use remote control

Not all models have a QWERTY remote ; Lacks the Google TV integration of Netgear's Prime model

The NeoTV Max has a lot of competition in the media streaming market, but the new Slingplayer app gives it a slight edge. It also gives seekers of the SlingCatcher a way to watch TV on the big screen without resorting to buying a pre-owned SlingCatcher...

It works

It set up fairly easy and does what it supposed to do, but is very slow to load apps. Accesses personal media as advertised, but is slow to load. I am dissapointed in its performance.

Not bad at all

Bought this on sale. Not worth the money. Slow And laggy. Locked up during operation changes. Video streaming from my WD my cloud was unwatchable. Didn't even play Netflix well. Spend a little bit more and buy something better.
