Netgear NeoTV NTV300 review

Netgear has been in the business of making digital media-streaming boxes longer than most of its competitors, with its MP101 audio streamer appearing way back in 2004. Of course the streaming market has changed drastically since then and the move to...

The Netgear Neo TV NTV300 offers a decent selection of programming -- including Netflix, Hulu Plus, YouTube, and Pandora -- and some customization of its home screen. In video quality it's mostly on par with other units of its type.

Some key video apps are missing. The unit is prone to sluggishness either in the interface or on occasion during playback. The remote control is overly squishy and the D-pad makes navigation harder due to some poor design decisions. The UI is a little...

The Netgear Neo TV NTV300 is one of the cheapest streaming boxes on the market, but it doesn't offer any compelling distinguishing features compared with the Roku.

Netgear NeoTV ( NTV300)

While its competitors still include some sort of in-home streaming support, Netgear jettisoned it some time ago with the entry-level NTV200 , and this trend continues with the NTV300. However, you can upgrade to the NeoTV Max , which includes WiDi...

You get what you pay for.

I used this box for 2 months, before taking it back to sams club,(luckily they happily refunded me)... about 75% of the movies on netflix randomly freeze, while the audio keeps going.... also, on movies that DO work, the first 5-10 minutes or so are...

It's cheap, and has lots of apps/channels

Sluggish menus Takes a while to connect to your wifi (every startup) Consistently freezes or lags on netflix movies

Great alternative to (now discontinued) Slingcatcher

Great if you have a Slingbox and want to watch it on your other TVs without a PC.

Cheapest device to stream Slingbox.

Remote control has mushy rubbery keys, Sling app is slow to respond (so no forwarding through commercials pretty much).

Its cheap and works, but expect sub par performance.

If you need something to view slingbox on a TV for cheap, you sir have a winner here. I think if you want to use this as a daily consumption device for Netflix/youtube and other apps you would be better suited going elsewhere.

Pandora is great Slingbox works well though navigation is a little tricky. Its cheap Small

Remote is frustratingly inaccurate Some Netflix HD videos have lag Youtube app is a little wonky Rhapsody works, but navigation is poor Not as many channels as others

Love this media streaming device

For the price and the features(which are awesome)no other media streaming device can match! This the second one that I've purchased and have been completely satisfied as it makes any hdtv a smart tv!

Works As Advertised

Purchased two of these units recently, mostly for Netflix. Both are working flawlessly so far, on WiFi and Ethernet cable. Good pic and sound. I am pleased with product, especially at the price...
