Samsung GX-SM530CF/XAA

This box does what it was designed to do. It is a cable box with streaming media capability. The interactive on-screen program guide is nice. It will not support on-demand functions. Samsung should market it more as a cable box replacement rather than...

Small size; good interactive TV program guide; this is a step up from most cable company DTAs

Limited apps; can be controlled via HDMI interface if your TV has that capability but not by most universal IR remote controls (Logitech remotes can control this device)

Typical Samsung product..

I own 2 of these boxes. The first was purchased on November 23, 2013 and the second being purchased on August 29, 2014. The first one, for the most part, functioned properly from November 23, 2013 until August 25, 2014 when it received an update from...

If you're looking to ditch the cable company's standard STB, this will fit the bill. It's among the few cable boxes in the consumer market that supports CableCARD. It provides access to Digital cable, either through an inserted CableCARD or a tuner. It...

As is typical of Samsung, support for this product is almost non-existant

Every thing is good except support

I got this box to use one of Samsung apps named "GLWiZ". unfortunately they did not update their compatible device list for this app and I can not download it to my media player. older Blue-ray players are in the list, and latest Smart TVs are also in...

Can't wait for next version

Great device for a second room. It has a tiny foot print and if this is a second box, you save money in box rental fees. It essentially pays for itself in the first year. The guide is clean and easy to read. Have not had any problems with internet...

Good features unstable network connectivity

The Samsung Smart Media Player has some great features, pretty much turns you standard TV into a Smart TV. Easy to set up, Cable card setup can be frustrating unless you get someone from the Cable Company that knows how to do it. The only issue I have...

CableCard

The CableCard dialog screen, used for Pairing with your cable provider, is too small. Increase the FONT SIZE on the light blue screen with the next software upgrade. Changing resolution of the actual TV has no impact. Changing from 480p, 720p, to 1080p...

replaces cable box , crackle app is great

Poor quality , the future evolutions should be better

Good Product for Use With Cable Card

I love the box it was easy to set up with my cable company Time Warner Cable. I don't like that it is not compatible with Hulu Plus. I cancelled my subscription due to I could not access it through the Samsung smart media hub not was it possible to add...

Poor APP performance and VERY slow interfaces.

This device is a great idea, but all of my apps run at a 486x snails pace. The box in general is slow and often unresponsive, requiring many power cycles or smart hub resets. Buy cheap, get cheap I guess.... Also, the APP selection is horrible. No HULU...

Inexpensive

Poor quality , slow interfaces , slow apps , needs constant reboots
