Sony Internet Player With Google TV (NSZ-GS7)

The Sony Internet Player With Google TV (NSZ-GS7) is one of the better ways to get Google TV on your HDTV, even if the platform itself still suffers from a lack of polish.

Well-designed remote. Plenty of functionality. Lots of online services and apps.

Not as polished or intuitive as other media hubs. Finding good apps requires combing through many not-so-great ones.

Conclusion Two years after Google launched Google TV, it still lags behind Apple and Roku's media hubs . The Sony Internet Player is an affordable and attractive upgrade over Sony's previous Google TV products, but it's still limited by Google TV's...

Review: Sony NSZ-GS7 with Google TV

Two years after the disastrous Logitech Revue, Google returns for another stab at internet TV, this time partnering with Sony on a standalone box. We...

Double-sided controller has a clickable touchpad and can function as a universal remote. Quick startup. Ports galore, including Ethernet, two USB, digital optical out, HDMI in and out, and an IR blaster. Will play content from external drives

There are better streaming boxes for less than half the price. Web browsing on a TV is still not fun. Glitchy software means that Google TV is still not ready for prime time

Sony NSZ-GS7 Google TV

More Info Sony's second try at Google TV brings Blu-ray player, streaming box and a new remote Google TV goes international, Sony NSZ-GS7 set-top box up for preorder in the US and UK Google TV officially switching to ARM, Marvell Armada 1500 CPU to...

One of the best QWERTY remotes for the HT ever ; Noticeably faster than older Google TVs ; HDMI-CEC, 3D and 24p output

Price is steep compared to other streamers ; Google TV ecosystem is still unproven

The NSZ-GS7 is probably the best way add the Google TV experience to your existing TV, but Google still has a way to go before it deserves to be a fixture in most living rooms.

Sony NSZ-GS7 with Google TV review

Google TV had a second coming-out party at CES 2012, where a number of manufacturers introduced new features for the television-based operating system, new devices running it, and other big plans....

Faster, more responsive interface ; Hardware is simple and ports are well placed ; Awesome universal search functionality

Google TV needs more content ; App selection is lacking ; Device gets really hot

When does 'it has potential' turn into 'it's not good enough?'

Sony NSZ-GS7 review

Google TV has always been an ambitious idea. In its ideal form, you'd be able to access all your home theater content -- including your cable/satellite box, streaming video services and content from the Web -- in a single user interface, powered by...

The Sony NSZ-GS7 has a vastly improved, double-sided remote for Google TV, with a large touch pad and a full keyboard. It's a small, stylish box and the only current set-top box that supports Google TV.

The Google TV software continues to disappoint. There aren't dedicated apps for major streaming services like Amazon Instant, Hulu Plus, and MLB.TV, nor is Google's own movie rental service supported. Major content providers like ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox,...

The Sony NSZ-GS7 has sleek hardware and an innovative remote, but it's hampered by the still too-limited and frustrating Google TV software.

Sony NSZ-GS7 Internet Player With Google TV

When I decided to review two Google TV media streamers back to back, I thought there would be little difference between them. After all, Google TVs run on an Android platform, and both the Sony Internet Player with Google TV and Vizio's Co-Star would...

Sony NSZ-GS7 review

Can the Sony's first Google TV box app the ante?

Unique Google TV platform ; Chrome browser supports Flash video ; Handy HDMI switching ; Excellent YouTube app ; Live thumbnail while browsing

Limited Google Play apps ; Complex remote ; Expensive

Owners of smart TVs are used to apps like YouTube and the BBC iPlayer, and even the ability to surf the web, but Sony's refreshed attempt at Google TV seeks to streamline the whole process by combining a Chrome browser with a selection of Google Play...

Sony NSZ-GS7 Internet Player with Google TV review
