Buyer Beware

Bought the JVM 1870 in 2004, had it installed when we moved in in Jan 2005.  Reasonably happy with it until the magnetron died on Sunday, July 12th, 5 days ago.

Reasonably happy  - altho the accompanying documentation did not match the microwave

Awful service experience.  See a description of what happened in the above

GE 1870SK Microwave Disappointmet

I purchased this microwave on 3/18/06 and the unit operated flawlessly until November 2008. During use, it suddenly makes a "popping" noise and stops working. The microwave has only been used to heat up vegetables and cook popcorn occasionally. It was...

The stainless-steel finish matches my other GE appliances

Cheaply made with repairs costing almost as much as the product

Major problem with this model microwave

Purchased this microwave, new on 7 Jan, installed 10 Jan, and all worked except it would not heat anything!!

Looks nice, fills the space, which has been empty for over two weeks

Test it immediately to make sure it truly works

Save your $$$$$$

Well have had it 12 months. We used it for popcorn and warming a few things once in awhile. Went to use it and no longer heated anything up and made some strange noises. Called GE to repair and ended up with a bill for $192.82. Somehow the fan inside...

The stainless steal look is very nice. Definitely a beautiful looking machine

It breaks easily...poor quality

Disappointment

I chose this microwave as an upgrade when I had my new house built. It worked great for the first twelve months. However, at 12 1/2 months it has started to completely turn off for no apparent reason. You have to unplug it for about 20 minutes and plug...

Nice while it lasts

Starts malfunctioning after a year

Great product--short life

Performed flawlessly for the first 2 years. No complaints until the magnetron tube failed. The microwave has a one year warranty, but the magnetron is covered for 10 years. A GE service person came out and confirmed that the magnetron had indeed...

Good looks, nice performance

Short life

The inside door RUSTED!

We replaced our Kitchenaid microwave-convection with this GE after an ice storm and subsequent power surge fried the circuits. I decided I could live without convection (although was tempted by GE Advantium briefly.

Looks nice; turntable can be disabled; good for popcorn

Inside of door rusted within first year of service
