Panasonic Genius Prestige NN-SD997S

I tested the $300 Panasonic NN-SD997S with inverter technology against three other countertop microwaves: the $290 Sharp Convection Grill R-820JS , the $279 Whirlpool WMC50522AS , and the $219 Amana AMC2166AS . As the most expensive of the four models,...

The Panasonic NN-SD997S 's impressive internal capacity will feed a large family and the sensor functions generally deliver. Also, its high wattage yields quick results.

The inverter technology claims to make "delicate foods" like eggs and fish better than its non-inverter competition. It didn't.

If you're interested in the inverter tech angle, you may be disappointed. But if you don't expect to get artisanal omelets from a microwave, it's still a solid choice for a large, midprice countertop model.

"Very intuitive and flexible. Easiest microwave to learn"

A joy to use because it is so well thought out.

easy to use. shortcuts in the menus are great and the knob to adjust cooking time is super fast. It actually has variable cooking unlike most microwaves that just shuttle between 100% and 0%.

Soup gets too hot, whether you select the menu item for soup or just use the sensor reheat. When done cooking the soup is boiling! So I don't use those features for soup. Just guess at the time and nuke it.

Most BANG for the BUCK - We LOVE this microwave!!

It is one of the few microwaves wrapped completely in stainless steel, and the front is coated to virtually eliminate fingerprints - wish my Bosch side-by-side refrigerator-freezer had this coating! This is the best microwave ever! (Our last Panasonic...

Due to the Inverter technology this microwave cooks food evenly, and FAST! The Genius Sensor really is genius and works perfectly every time whether you are cooking a roast, oatmeal, popcorn, or an omelet

I wish they would have used the fingerprint resistant coating on the top and sides too
