Microsoft Streets & Trips 2005 with GPS review: Microsoft Streets & Trips 2005 with GPS

Intro Microsoft Streets & Trips 2005 with GPS locator is a bargain alternative compared to expensive auto-navigation systems that cost hundreds of dollars more. Combining the latest version of Microsoft's popular mapping software with a two-inch square...

Plug-and-play GPS setup; tracks your location in real time; displays speed, altitude, heading, and other directional coordinates.

Vehicle frame may block GPS signal; checking map location while driving is dangerous; no voice navigation.

Streets & Trips 2005 with GPS locator is fun and inexpensive, but it's awkward and needs voice navigation to be a full-fledged alternative to other GPS-based vehicle navigation systems.

Microsoft Streets & Trips 2005

Let's face it, escaping the bonds of technology is getting tougher and tougher. Many of us get a hankering to leave it all behind and go hiking, skiing, backpacking, snowshoeing (or perhaps you can't let summer go and just want to surf or scuba dive)....

Solid update to a perennial best-seller. Better GPS support. Optional USB GPS receiver. GPS works with Pocket PCs and smart phones too

Inadequate points of interest, especially in rural areas. No online links to evaluate quality of hotels and restaurants. Shows most mass-transit stops but not routing. Rules-based routing may seem illogical in areas you know well; no easy way to make...

It continues to be one of the best choices for those who buy disk-based mapping software despite its foibles, which are common to mapping products in general. The new version also makes it easier to install other GPS receivers you may have.

This thing is cool. If you can't afford a real GPS for your car this is the next best thing. All you would need is a laptop with a usb port. Very good. Newegg has it cheaper than the Microsoft website. Newegg is always the best. 5/5 star rating

Why is one disc always better than the other!?!?

My mum has a huge collection of CD's and quite often I will go through her CD collection and borrow a few when I feel like listening to something slightly different to what I've got on iTunes. I get bored of the same songs on the radio all the time and...

great mix of music, various artists, well known artists

inlcudes some bad remixes of old songs
