Plextor M5 Pro (128GB) SSD Giveaway

Plextor has been making a name for itself in the SSD space lately with its M-series of drives. The M3 and M5 lines are well received and remarkably competitive, especially considering Plextor is a relative newcomer in the SSD space.

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. PURCHASE DOES NOT INCREASE CHANCES OF WINNING.

Plextor M5 Pro Xtreme 512GB

Other than the fact there's no included USB-SATA adapter, which very few SSDs come with, the new M5 Pro Xtreme has nothing else for me to complain about.

The Plextor M5 Pro Xtreme is very fast and inexpensive. Its included software and desktop drive-bay converter are useful bonuses.

The Plextor M5 Pro Xtreme doesn't come with a USB-SATA adapter, or the kitchen sink.

If you're on a market for a high-end solid-state drive for your computer, be it a PC or a Mac, look no further than the Plextor M5 Pro Xtreme.

Plextor M5 Pro (256GB) Review

There are no surprises here. Write speed is jumping back and forth from as low as 60MB/s to up to 340MB/s. Average write speed is 169.5MB/s, which is similar to what we have seen with other Plextor SSDs.

The AS-SSD sequential benchmark uses incompressible data for all of its transfers. The result is a pretty big reduction in sequential write speed on SandForce based controllers, while other drives continue to work at roughly the same speed as with...

Hot on the heels of its M5S, Plextor sent us the M5 Pro. Loaded with hot new technologies like 19 nm NAND and the latest Marvell controller, the company's flagship was certainly worth waiting for. How does it do against the established incumbents, though?
