We purchased 2 of these units. The first was dead out of the box. The second worked perfectly - even my mother-in-law was able to use it without a problem. This seems to match the other reviews that I read.

It loads slowly but works quite well. I've only had it for 30 days, so durablity is unknown. Since it will be attached to a plain old analog TV as long as the TV lasts, the upgrade compatability is nice but untested.
