this blender works well making smoothies(i would stay away from "smoothie" makers as opposed to a blender - got one and it wasnt a good product). this blenders' six blades really chop the ice well in short time. the unit is easy to clean and look great...

One of the reviews stated the motor smelled a little hot when used extensively. I see what they said but it has not failed despite hard, daily use chopping blenderfulls of frozen fruits and ice. It's not the fanciest blender but it's simple and chic....
