Acer B243PWL 24” Professional Monitor Review

The current display market is an interesting place where there's currently a blurring of the lines between professional and enthusiasts products. Both

Good color gamut ; 16:10 ratio ; Reasonably efficient ; Physical buttons ; Well designed stand ; Good input option selection ; Passable built in speakers

Slow response time ; Over-simplified OSD ; Slow to turn on (aprx. 8+ seconds) ; Button layout & design is sub-optimal ; No bezel mounted USB ports

Acer has an enviable reputation among business so the B243PWL had some big shoes to fill and for the most part it lived up to expectations.

Beautiful monitor, failed quickly

Wish it worked!

The monitor looked great and worked well initially. It was very crisp and well lit

The monitor failed after 3 months of light to moderate use. I submitted a request for service to Acer, as it is well within warranty, and I still haven't heard back from them over 3 weeks later

Update to last review

I wish I could edit my last review so this is an update to my last : The *brightness* isn't actually the problem, but the default contrast. The default setting of 50% for contrast is way too high. After some experimentation, I changed the brightness to...

Good bang for the buck

No complaints after adjustment... But by default it looks very bright and washed out

I bought two

I bought two, replacing my slightly smaller pair of 1600x1200 displays, one of which died. I prefer two monitors because I like windows maximized side-by-side to transcribe or compare, and for software development I put code in one window, and the...

Great resolution for the money, great image quality

Wobbly stand, maybe too bright

Excellent monitors

About the best monitor at $250 range I have bought in the past 5 years (out of around 80 monitors purchased).

Excellent monitors - I have purchased purchased around 20 of these for our office in November 2013. Today - 9 months later we are still very satisfied with the monitors ; We are using them both in landscape and portrait configuration. They have very...

Acer B243PWLAJbmdrz

I never imagined I could get a better monitor than my old Acer P243W. I thought it was because of its glossy screen that could express such rich and deep color range but I guess you just can't beat the new IPS technology. The white is actually "white"...

The most bang-for-the-buck 24" 1920x1200 "professional" grade IPS monitor. Accurate real life color reproduction. No washed-out feel nor details lost due to cheap high contrast. It's the minimum system requirement for those who are in the photography...

Shipping cost due to its weight but can't complain too much because it has the height/pivot adjustable stand

Great monitor with great colors

Great monitor with IPS panel for the price tag. Colors are vivid, screen is bright. 178 degree viewing angles are great - the picture on the screen and its colors remain the same when viewed from virtually any point in my room. Picture looks equally...

I would note only 14ms response time, but if you don't do any gaming this isn't a problem

I like it.

I'm comparing this monitor ( the Acer B243PWL ) with my previous one, the HP w2338h, a non⋅IPS (TN) non⋅LED ( CCFL, Fluorescent ) display, 1920 x 1080, 23". Brightness is set to Zero, Contrast to 100%, slight gamma adjustment. ASCR (dynamic contrast)...

Portrait mode. More Pixels. IPS is nice

Bad backlight bleed. BLACK isn't black

Made my old monitor look REAL bad

Buy this!

Bought this cause I'm tired of my PC thinking it is a TV (Tired of current monitors all being 1080p. (I WANT HIGHER VERTICAL RESOLUTION! Stop going wider and give me some verticle!) ; Black is VERY black. White is VERY white (Not grey). VERY NICE

Vertical adjustment lock just a bit wonky
