Very disappointing

Just hope that you don't get a lemon because ASUS doesn't have your back.

While it works, it's great

After one month had a dead pixel, no big deal but annoying. After two months, monitor dies. I believe the back light went out so the monitor gets so dark it's unusable. RMA it back to ASUS. After two weeks of waiting, they email me back and say nothing...

2 thumbs up

few things. the speakers in the monitor are really bad, for example i played highest settings on a game and i could hardly hear the words.. the stand is bit flimsy

Very nice

This is a fantastic display for the price range. LED back lighting is smooth. Looks great and is very stable. Great purchase.

This is a great smaller display. Great back lighting. Display is crisp and clear. Stand was stellar for a display in this price range. Sub 100.00

Speakers are a little weak. Fine for basic windows sounds ; Not 1080

Good colour, solid stand, no 16:9 letterbox

Colors are nice, LED backlit is nice, decent automatic color presets (though they were a bit bright for me so I used Standard with some changes.) ; HDMI works with an HDMI->DVI adapter ; I mounted it on a VESA monitor mount

the screen is 16:10, but there is no 16:9 letterbox mode. This means I can't use it for a PS3 )

So far so good

Will hope to use this monitor for a couple of years. Very good price and well worth the money (Will Update!!)

LED Backlight (Saves on Power) ; Crystal Clear Image ; Splendid Modes ; Works ; Nice LED light indicating standby mode ; No Dead Pixels

Built in speakers aren't the best (not a con for me but for some) ; Wobbles a little(Once again not a con for me since it only wobbles a little, people are making the wobbling seem too exaggerated way to much unless they are slapping their monitor...

Good, but not for everyone

There are also speakers on this monitor. I haven't tried them, but they're probably mediocre (as monitor speakers tend to be). The default display configuration is also fairly bright compared to other monitors, but that's easily adjustable. In short,...

No dead pixels and no backlight bleeding. Great color and contrast for a monitor of this price range. Nice and bright, yet very energy efficient. Decent display configuration options (color, contrast, brightness, sharpness, etc.)

The anti-glare used for this screen is quite heavy, giving it a noticeable "grainy" or "greasy" appearance from how the anti-glare treatment refracts light. Of course, some eyes are more sensitive to matte grain than others, so it may not be noticeable...

Step down from discontinued VE198T

I have purchased several VE198T over the past year and needed another for a workstation secondary monitor. I was disappointed to find the VE198T had been discontinued and the VE198 was priced similarly with less features. I went ahead with my purchase,...

GREAT display, lightweight

D-SUB/VGA only ; No internal speakers ; Priced similar to VE198T with less features

Okay monitor

I know Newegg says to leave out price, but I don't see how it would be unreasonable to say I paid 90 USD for this monitor. I wouldn't be inclined to pay over 100 for it given what it has to offer in both size and quality.

The monitor offers what it says it does. The monitor's design is simple. It had no dead pixels upon arrival

The panel of the monitor seems best described as "oily". This is likely due to the coating on the monitor (anti-glare) just not being a good mix ; The pixels also seem exaggerated for a .288 pixel pitch

Good Choice

Haven't used the speakers so I can't comment on them.

Good image quality, no dead pixels, plenty big enough for my desk

Stand is a little unsteady but not really a problem
