Asus VG23AH

 

The Asus VG23AH is a relatively affordable 23-inch monitor offering IPS and 3D technology and a generous selection of video inputs.

Solid color and viewing angle performance. Generous port selection. Reasonably priced.

Off-angle 3D quality is mediocre. No USB ports. Speakers lack bass.

Asus VG23AH review: Asus VG23AH

 

Asus VG23AH

Given its IPS panel tech, the ; comes with a surprisingly low price tag. It also sports wide viewing angles and great movie performance. Its useful ergonomic features and dual HDMI ports round out an affordable package.

The passive 3D performance is bad, with terrible ghosting and shallow depth. The build quality feels a bit plasticky, too, and the swivel feature feels a bit stiff.

The Asus VG23AH nails it in price, features, and 2D performance, but falls flat on its screen in 3D.

Today we are looking at one of the latest monitors from Asus, the VG23AH. This IPS LED backlit 3D capable 23 inch screen runs at a native 1080p resolution (1920×1080). Thanks to ASUS ‘All-in 3D Technology' the panel can convert traditional 2D content...

fantastic 3D qualities ; reasonable pricing ; great for gaming ; excellent power consumption ; we love the Asus FPR glasses

2D aspects aren’t inspiring ; some backlighting concerns ; ugly design ; The selection panel at the bottom of the screen could be better ; No HDMI cable supplied, just VGA ; No DisplayPort

Kitguru says: If you want a new screen for 3D gaming, then this should be shortlisted. We have some concerns however which stop it from scoring higher.

Great monitor so far. I thought the reviewer was a little picky as he described this monitor... I thought the menu system is ok, once you know how to use it. Yes there is no "enter button" but it's not a big deal. How many times to you use the menu...

Easy setup Auto checks connector type Preset modes for different modes for applications/conditions 3 year warranty (I also bought the exchange option at Fry's) Came with 3d glasses (Both reg. and clip on) Has holes to install on a monitor swing arm.

A nice monitor for 2D/3D games on the xbox360

 

This is my first 3d and IPS monitor, and I had it for 5 days now, I use it mostly for gaming with my xbox 360 and I previously used an lcd TV. It isn't easy to find an IPS monitor at this price with so many features: 2x HDMI ports and Built in stereo...

-Price -IPS panel -3 years warranty -2x HDMI ports -Built in stereo -Flexibility

-Initial settings are over pumped -No way to adjust volume from the monitor -Personal experience: This monitor (which Asus is going to replace) came with significant and higly noticeable backlight bleeding on the bottom left corner. -A lil unstable

Great 3D monitor for games and movies

 

I believe the CNET reviewer utilized the "auto-magic" 2D to 3D conversion thats built into the monitor as he did not mention which 3rd party driver he utilized (i.e: iz3D or tridef - recommend by AMD for my HD7870). Just install one of these drivers...

Solid 2D monitor with an excellent entry level 3D capability. Great ability to adjust the monitor's position Can act as 3D TV for bluray/ps3/etc (haven't tried Direct TV)

Lack of instruction on 3D middleware (iz3d or tridef) to get 3D games working Inclusion of a 2D to 3D button on the front (why do they have this feature???) Incomplete (bad) review by CNET will prevent this monitor from selling well

Review fails at 3d in front of our eyes...

 

If you have ever seen a passive 3d tv/monitor, you should know that viewing angle is crucial to see perfect 3d. From the video it's pretty obvious that he was looking at a wrong angle when testing 3d, that's why the image fell apart (otherwise there is...

IPS panel -> good viewing angles, great colors Good 3d

Vertical viewing angle is limited in 3d (by the nature of passive 3d technology) It's not printed on the box with big red letters

This monitor has a sturdy base. Its very clear. Well built, nice looking also. Overall I would highly recommend to anyone looking for these features in this size monitor.
