BenQ America FP591

Top-performing (but pricey) multimedia monitor stands out from its competitors.

The FP591 is not for people seeking a basic 15-inch LCD. But--support glitches aside--it is a compelling product at a fair price for people who can put its multimedia muscle to good use.

FP591 LCD Monitor

The FP591 screen has a fairly thin (about 1-inch thick) matte-black bezel, but it is set into a considerably larger gray frame that holds several uncommon extra features. The bottom of the frame houses a set of powerful surround-sound speakers that...

You pay more for these extra features than you would for a regular 15-inch monitor. But the price ($425 at the time of our review) is not exorbitant for such a full-featured product

Benq FP591 review: Benq FP591

Benq FP591

Inputs for digital-camera media cards make pictures viewable without a PC; TV-tuner compatibility; included speakers.

Mediocre image quality; expensive; limited adjustability; test results came in below specs given by manufacturer.

Despite a handful of extras, the BenQ FP591 is much more expensive than other 15-inch LCDs that offer much better image quality.

BenQ FP591 15.1-inch LCD

Retro styling aside, the FP591's impressive visuals and unique features oozes major geek appeal but it's not quite as well-suited for multi-windowed environments.
