BenQ VW2420H Monitor Review

Recently I reviewed another monitor from BenQ that was designed as an all-in-one model to handle your computer use, as well as TV or video game usage. While the performance of the display was decent, the combination of everything wasn't an ideal fit.

BenQ VW2420H

This large and stylish LED display offers fantastic image quality for digital artists at an amazing price.

In almost all graphical aspects, this monitor outperforms its rivals of a similar price – it’s hard to believe you can buy it for £144. Its only big flaw is the slightly slow response time, which means that moving images aren’t refreshed as fast as on...

BenQ VW2420H review

An attractive, slimline 24in LCD monitor costing £185 isn't an everyday occurrence - and the BenQ VW2420H isn't just another mainstream flat-panel.

The BenQ's VA panel isn't as brilliant as IPS can achieve, but it's a very impressive step up from the ubiquitous bargain-basement TN panel. The BenQ VW2420H has strong colour and text, good viewing angles, and an attractive slimline frame. Add to this...

BenQ VW2420H

BenQ teams with AU Optronics to produce a high-quality, VA-based LED monitor at an astounding price.

Slim, stylish design ; Light ; Excellent viewing angles

External power adapter ; Average motion performance

Not only is the VW2420H very slim and presentable, it performs extremely well and far better than its price alone would suggest. For the style and quality conscious, it's a winner.

BenQ VW2420H review

We've reviewed a slew of LED monitors this year, but until now, all have used 'budget' TN LCD panels. TN stands for Twisted Nematic, and such panels are the cheapest variety and tend to have fast response times.

Excellent contrast and great viewing angles, but colours are a little cold and power consumption isn't as low as other LED monitors.

BenQ VW2420H

Slim and stylish LED monitor with a VA panel. On its side: color reproduction, viewing angles and 1080p Full-HD resolution.

LED backlighting ; 8-bit VA panel ; Good color reproduction ; Good contrast and black levels

Color shift ; Premium priced ; Response time could be a concern for some

One of the first of its type, the BenQ VW2420H is a 24-inch 1080p monitor with LED backlight and an 8-bit MVA panel. This slim, high-end general purpose monitor offers better color reproduction and wider viewing angles.

BenQ VW2420H review

A good quality monitor, the BenQ model suffers compared to the other professional-level displays on test this month

Low cost; HDMI; good black levels

Flimsy build; unlabelled buttons; few positioning options; glossy screen; light leakage

We need to be frank in our verdict and, although the BenQ’s colour reproduction is good, there are displays far more suited to design work in our round-up. If you’re truly strapped for cash, consider this display only as a stop-gap option. Otherwise,...

Benq Monitor, good but with some issues.

This is a really good monitor for the price, and the image quality is far superior to a TN panel.

Wonderful monitor

Got this a few weeks ago and just want to say it is the best monitor I have owned. The VA technology certainly makes a difference to the overall quality of the picture. Blu-Ray discs look stunning. No backlight bleed or dead pixels. Blacks are black...

Great monitor if you are willing to spend some time tweaking it

This monitor and the related BenQ EW2420 are both excellent Full HD (16:9) monitors featuring the 24" BenQ VA panel technology with LED backlighting. For the same or lower price as TN panels they offer excellent viewing angles. I own the EW2420 which...
