Review: HP LC4276N LCD TV

With its latest 1080p line, HP swings towards the upscale. Gone are the tacky 80s style cases swapped out for sleek, shiny black chassis. But...

A simple remote control layout makes configuring options in the dark easy. 1920 x 1080 native resolution. Four (count ‘em) four HDMI ports

Noise reduction left us watching grainy film transfers. No noise reduction settings. Poor video processing failed to properly de-interlace some 24 FPS sources and left jaggies in diagonal lines. With 42-inch LCDs starting at under a grand we expect...

HP LC4276N

You get a pleasant surprise when you set up HP's 42-inch LC4276N LCD TV. Most of the inputs, though behind the screen, are on the left side rather than on the back of the unit, and they face outward, making them relatively easy to get to. Thanks to its...

Most inputs are easy to get to, 'Simple' and 'Full' menu options help setup

Disappointing image quality

The LC4276N's lack of features and below-average picture quality should give you pause.

HP LC4776N

HP LC76N

This flat-panel HDTV features relatively accurate color temperature and solid connectivity, including three HDMI inputs and one PC input.

Produces a light color of black; uneven uniformity across the screen; lacks dot-by-dot aspect ratio mode; sparse picture adjustments; no noise reduction control; pedestrian external design.

The HP LC4776N has 1080p resolution and a good selection of inputs, but its middling picture quality and features make it difficult to recommend.

HP LC4776N LCD HDTV

The Basics: HP's 2007 LCD lineup consists of four 1080p models: two 42-inchers and two 47-inchers. These four models utilize the same TV technologies and should perform similarly; the two models with the MediaSmart designation add a broadband Internet...
