HP 2709m review: HP 2709m

HP 2709m

The HP 2709m includes screen tilt and swivel, built-in speakers, and an ambient light sensor.

The HP 2709m has frequent screen tearing in games and movies, and its presets over-saturate the colors.

The HP 2709m's lack of features makes it less desirable than HP's own similarly priced w2558hc.

HP 2709m

HP's new 27-inch 2709m is considerably larger than the rest of these displays; it's also more expensive ($400).

Large display; great performance when watching Blu-ray or gaming; two HDMI inputs

Small text rendered very poorly; distracting reflection

We also found a discolored pixel on the 2709m (HP calls this a “bright sub-pixel defect” and doesn’t cover it under warranty unless there are two or more).

Great Monitor

I also own a Samsung P2770H Rose Black, and I have say the HP is slightly better overall. I like the image a little better and I like the stand a lot better. The Samsung is more attractive when they are off, the rose black case is very nice looking.

Crisp bright screen. Big solid stand. Very attractive design

A bit heavy, but the solid stand is worth it. Not a thin as some others, but the built in speakers probably have something to do with that, and they don't sound bad for built-ins. Glossy finish on screen can product lots of glare, not bad if you can...

If you like glossy finish look no further!

For image editing the monitor is somewhat questionable; it makes the images look TOO good! While a great display monitor I use a second to accuratly gauge what my clients will be seeing.

This is a glossy monitor - if you like glossy finish look no further ; Excellent value for the price. My high-resolution images and HD video look spectacular

Text can be a little ghosty if you sit close to the monitor - especially on the edges

HP 2709m 27" 3ms(GTG) HDMI Full HD 1080P Widescreen 16:9 LCD Monitor w/ swivel adjustment 400 cd/m2 DC 30000:1(1000:1)Built in Speakers

Outstanding display quality. Vibrant Colors. Installed the drivers and plugged it in with NO install issues at all. Very happy with this monitor, would buy a 2nd one if I needed it

Speakers are WORTHLESS, but then that is not the reason to buy this monitor. Sound is VERY low and of no real use. Be warned, this is a GLOSSY style screen, and it will reflect ANY light source, so you will not like this is you have anything that might...

Great Monitor with a great price.

Bright as all get out with great contrast. Almost as good as my Mac monitor, but so much less expensive

Speakers are not useful

disappointed - update

I just recieved the refurb under warranty and I have to say I'm somewhat impressed that it works at all ; Whoever packed the refurb for shipping used a box 6 inches bigger than the unit's original box - in every dimension. Of course the monitor shifted...

disappointed

Okay, maybe the fact that this unit's warranty period is only one year should have been a clue that this wasn't really the monitor for me. That's one detail that will rate much more importantly in my purchasing decisions going forward.

Very clear picture

Builtin speakers don't seem to produce the volume of even cheap stanadlone speakers ; Worse, a hardware breakdown after only 7 months, with a green bar running top-to-bottom about 1.5 inches from the left side. Okay, HP acknowledges it's a hardware...

Great Monitor!!

Should make this in a 30'', that'd be great.

This monitor comes with a DVI, VGA, and audio cables already so that was a great plus. I'm running it off my MacBook Pro so all I needed was a MiniDVI adapter to DVI and I was off and running. I've read the speakers aren't that great but I respectfully...

None I can think of
