IBM Thinkvision L170P Monitor

We reviewed IBM's L170P a year ago, and this charcoal-black business monitor has stood the test of time extremely well. It showed crisp text--in both regular and reverse type--on our test screen of multisize fonts. On our grayscale screen, it earned a...

The design elements we liked in the L170p remain intact: Swivel, tilt, and height adjustment work smoothly; and the big, wavy buttons make it easy for large-handed people to change screen settings (we'd be happier if the buttons were marked with words...

Well-built model performed competently; large, curved buttons are comfortable and easy to use, even for large hands.

IBM ThinkVision L170m

The IBM ThinkVision L170m has a value price but delivers more than you'd get with a no-name model.

Affordably priced. Well-designed front-panel controls. Integrated speakers with better-than-average sound quality.

Weak viewing-angle performance. Limited printed documentation. Tilt-only base.

IBM ThinkVision L170m

This 17-inch monitor is decent for basic office use, but it's low on extras and not particularly adjustable.

Easy to operate; clear text display; built-in speakers.

No DVI input; mediocre graphics display; limited adjustability.

This is an acceptable 17-inch LCD for a home or small-business user who doesn't require great image quality.

L170M

The IBM ThinkVision L170m displayed text ably in our tests, particularly on our spreadsheet and Microsoft Word screens, gaining the second-highest text score awarded to a recently tested 17-inch LCD. Colors, however, appeared somewhat cold in our...

IBM ThinkVision L170M: The Best Flat Panel Monitor I've Ever Used

When given the choice, I'm one of the last holdouts for a traditional CRT monitor. That's because almost every flat panel monitor I've seen has two major problems: they only work well at one resolution and they lose clarity in a hurry if you're not ...

doesn't restrict you to one resolution, doesn't wash out at angles, small, light, has speakers

onscreen menuing system, difficult to hook up cords, headphone jack didn't work
