Samsung S27B971D Monitor Review

At the 2013 CES Samsung made a point to demonstrate the excellent accuracy of their monitors. They had an example of the automated calibration routine they go through at the factory. Using a Konica Minolta CA-310 meter, 25 points on the screen are...

My expectations for the Samsung S27B971D were high after seeing their demo at CES and how they calibrate displays. They increased when I opened the box and saw the calibration report with some pretty incredible numbers on it. While the initial...

Samsung Series 9 S27B971D review

When it comes to image quality, there are two kinds of consumers: those who care, and those who don't. Most buyers fall into the second group, and while it's easy to sneer at users who nitpick gamma and gamut, their motives are understandable....

Numerous on-screen display controls ; Very accurate color and gamma ; Bright display with matte finish ; Excellent calibration from the factory ; Very broad viewing angle

Stand does not swivel or rotate ; Middling black levels ; Extremely expensive

Though big, beautiful, and capable of very accurate color, Samsung’s excellent Series 9 monitor costs far too much.

Samsung Series 9 S27B971D

The Samsung Series 9 S27B971D is an attractive 27-inch PLS monitor that delivers bold and accurate color reproduction and very dark blacks. It is well equipped and offers wide viewing angles but it has trouble at the dark end of the grayscale and is...

Rich, accurate colors. Wide viewing angles. Stylish design. Lots of ports

Expensive. Weak dark grayscale performance. No USB 3.0 ports

The Samsung Series 9 S27B971D, Samsung's latest addition to its Series 9 family of desktop monitors, bears a striking resemblance to its predecessor, the Samsung Series 9 S27B970D. Both use a 27-inch PLS (Plane-Line Switching) panel to deliver bold,...

Samsung's new Series 9 is a high-performance powerhouse with the professional in mind.

Samsung S27B971D review

Great build quality, stylish looks, touch-sensitive menu controls, all main interfaces, high 2560x1440 resolution, lots of screen space at 27”, bundled leads, excellent colour accuracy, great colour and brightness uniformity.

Expensive, contrast and brightness aren’t anything to write home about, stand doesn’t offer much flexibility, rather large bevel.

Good display, incorrect specs/ description

This display is described as having a GLOSSY display, edge to edge glass. The unit is NOT glossy but rather has a thin layer of anti-glare on it which is a bit surprising after all I've read on it. The brightness and color accuracy / vividness make up...

Higher resolution that standard 1080, BRIGHT, very colorful, vivid picture, big, modern, classy looking

Anti-glare display coating, plastiky parts on back and base. Wobbly, a little too cheap for the price
