Samsung SyncMaster 730B LCD Monitor Review

The SyncMaster 730B 17-inch LCD display is intended for mainstream budgets, and boasts an 8ms pixel refresh rate.

Excellent

Head to best buy or any electronic store (I don't suggest walmart because their electronics are poopy) and get a nice DVI cable, mine was 50 bucks (25ft). If you don't have DVI output on your computer for this monitor, then don't get an LCD monitor...

Great LCD! This is the perfect deal if you are looking for affordable performance! Super-low response time - NO Ghosting! Super bright and it gets nice and dark. It's sleek and low profile - perfect for dual monitors. Analog (VGA) and DVI outputs...

The only problems with this monitor are that it does not come with a DVI cable and that there isn't much functionality in terms of moving it. There's no height adjustment, but I don't need that nor do most people because it's setup pefectly for correct...

only came with analog input cable, no DVI

nice and bright

This is a great, simple monitor that does what it needs to do and doesn't come with any unneeded extras like usb ports or speakers.

Bright, no-frills, low price

Plastic base feels flimsy and is annoying to attach, and once it's attached one can't access where the cables connect to the monitor

New LCD Monitor

I had been worried about bad pixels, but there weren't any. My roomate has the same monitor and he has had it for over a year, and he hasn't had any problems either.

I run Kubuntu Linux and when I plugged the monitor into my computer it worked right away. I didn't even have to change the resolution settings. They auto configured

Excellent monitor for its generation

If you're buying monitors for a dual-head setup, you'd do well to buy units of the same model; even monitors of the same brand can have significantly different attributes. For example, the "color temperature" of the 730B is significantly "cooler" than...

Attractive, tasteful appearance (sleek black case, narrow bezel, removable cover for cable connections). Reasonably lightweight, not at all bulky for a 17" display. Great picture quality, as long as you're using DVI--see below. Wide horizontal and...

Using the analog input, the 730B looks considerably worse than my analog-only Samsung 712N. Seems that Samsung skimped a bit on analog signal conversion in this model, figuring that most users will use the digital input anyway. Stick with DVI, and...

I'm Pleased, Nice

Now I just HAVE to get a Linux compatible HDTV card and go for TV over the air (I have an antenna in the attic). This is gonna be goooood!

I'm using this screen with Kubuntu Linux, so I do not need the CD. It just works. I did not realize how faded my 3 year old crt had become. My eyes are much less tired by using this screen. This was certainly money well spent. If you are considering...

Good Choice

Make sure you remove the bar code panel from the box before discarding it.

bright, crisp picture ; no dead pixels ; simple, clean design ; very light weight

symbols on the setting buttons hardly readable even during day-light

SAMSUNG 730B Black 17" 8ms LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 600:1

No dead pixels on mine, couldn't see any ghosting in CS:S video test or while playing a DVD, plenty bright, same viewable area as my 19" CRT

Still an LCD so relatively limited viewing angle compared to my 19" aperture grille CRT
