Samsung P2770HD Review

We had high hopes for Samsung's P2770HD. After all, its 23-inch little brother rose to the top of a sea of crappy TN displays in our December 2009 roundup. With its street price of $400, the P2770HD looked like a strong value for folks with...

Integrated HDTV tuner; plethora of digital and analog inputs; remote control

Mediocre color uniformity; poor gray-scale performance; feeble stand

We didn’t notice this shortcoming while playing games or watching movies, because there are few occasions in those scenarios where one color remains static across broad stretches of the display’s borders. It could be a serious problem, however, if...

Samsung SyncMaster P2770FH

The 27-inch Samsung SyncMaster P2770FH has a difficult time offering enough value to justify its $330 price. Its main competitors are the 27-inch Asus VE276Q and 27-inch Samsung P2770HD, available for as low as $300 and $350, respectively. Those...

The Samsung SyncMaster P2770FH provides a large screen for a relatively low price and although its design is a couple years old, it still looks quite stylish.

The Samsung SyncMaster P2770FH has a noticeable green push and lacks connection options compared with other 27-inchers.

The Samsung SyncMaster P2770FH's disappointing performance and lack of features make it definitely not first choice among 27-inchers.

Samsung SyncMaster P2770HD

Television or computer display? You decide. Samsung's SyncMaster P2770HD takes advantage of the blurring line between supersized monitors and miniature TVs by turning one 27-inch, 1080p LCD panel into both. With the inputs and specs of a PC display and...

Modern, stylish bezel ; Above-average image quality ; Sleek menu system ; Wide selection of video inputs ; Built-in HDTV tuner ; Comfortable full-size remote

No height adjustment or swiveling ; Weak-feeling base ; Anemic speakers ; Lacks more than one of any video input ; No USB hub or side inputs ; No picture-in-picture ; Advanced controls blocked while using DVI and VGA inputs

Samsung’s hybrid cross between a TV and computer monitor borrows many of the best features of both, making an ideal shared-space solution.

Samsung SyncMaster P2770HD

The 27-inch Samsung SyncMaster P2770HD is a larger version of the P2370 that we reviewed last year. It's essentially an HDTV that can double as a monitor. It has nearly all the TV connections you'd expect and even comes with a fully functioning remote...

The Samsung SyncMaster P2770HD has a ton of connection options, built-in speakers, and great overall performance.

Has only one HDMI port; lacks an S-Video port; its menu system is inefficient compared with others; playing movies delivers a slight greenish tint.

The Samsung SyncMaster P2370HD is a great choice for those looking for a 27-inch monitor-HDTV combo.

Samsung Syncmaster P2770HD 27″ LCD Review

A decent PC-TV hybrid that is let down by basic input options and a slightly hefty price tag.

The speakers are decent, albeit a bit on the softer side. There are a couple of presets you can choose from: Standard, Music, Movie, Clear Voice, and Custom. We are not sure what ‘Custom’ does though, as it does not provide any additional options after...

Samsung SyncMaster P2770HD and the Lenovo L2060 Wide

Today we'll be reviewing two decent-sized monitors, the Samsung SyncMaster P2770HD and the Lenovo L2060 Wide. Which one appeals to you more will depend in part on your budget and what level of performance you demand from such an important electronic item.

"This monitor is awesome,"

There is nothing wrong with this monitor at all, I think the user ratings and cnet ratings are off a bit. I thought the menu system was incredibly extensive, it had lots of picture tweaks, almost as much as my Samsung UN55C8000 TV. I don't notice any...

-The main thing that matters, Picture quality, is great.

-I Had to do some serious picture tweaking. When I say serious, I mean about 30 minutes of googling and playing with settings.

"Mediocre At Best"

Don't mean to insult the reviewer, but I really don't know what monitor he was looking at.This monitor sucks for pretty much any games with fast motion, plus the colors aren't quite right no matter how much you tinker with the settings.Small text is...

"Useless for PC or Laptop."

Might have been useful in to read in the initial review that widescreen and full screen modes doen't work with a PC or laptop.

None. Really, for a pc or laptop, absolutely none.

16:9 ratio for a pc or laptop means the 27" screen is a waste of aobut 6" all around. What's the point of a big screen if it you can't use it? Oh, and set up with my Toshiba laptop? Pain in the *ss. Get ready for a help-desk call!

Product Specifications

Ultra-slim and ultra-elegant, the ToC design is inspired by the artistic integrity of hand blown glass. The translucent charcoal gray gradation of the bezel and cobalt blue hues of the clear crystal neck subtly shift in color depending upon external light conditions, creating an exquisite interplay between the monitor and the environment that it is placed in.
