120Hz Backlight Strobing

It's a shame that Samsung decided to discontinue this monitor. You'll either have to find a used one or locate some unused stock, or display model.

This screen can do 3D if that's your thing ; What it does best is 120Hz refresh rate and built in backlight strobing (think nvidia lightboost hack), via the 3D mode menu (Frame Sequential mode) ; This makes it superb for 120fps, 120hz gaming with...

Discontinued - No longer in production ; Some screens have the issue where the display drops out (this is due to faulty displayport cables feeding the screen 3.3 volts from the GPU - a proper displayport spec conformant cable will fix this)

Mixed feelings

This is my follow-up review. After 2 months of back and forth Samsung took the monitor for repair and fixed it. This is the second device, so I guess it's fair to submit a new review. As others mentioned 3D is great. But it doesn't work out of the box....

1. Great looks ; 2. Great picture ; 3. 3D is awesome (when it works, see other thoughts) ; 4. Works in 3D with Playstation 3 seamlessly

1. PC setup is a mess. Looks like the monitor itself is great, but 3rd party software TriDef and its compatibility with video card drivers introduce a lot of inconsistencies ; 2. Should I be mentioning tech support again?.. They have no clue how to fix...

Good enough

120hz for this price is good enough, the 3d is a bonus. Make sure you use display port if you want the 120hz

Solid monitor ; Solid aesthetics ; Solid cost

Wish it was bigger ; 3d is nice but sometimes hard to distinguish if actually 3d

3d Rocks

3d Is unbelievable. If you said 2d to 3d is better than tridef then you did not configure right. I am writing this to help all the AMD 5800 series users out there ; 1) install the monitor driver (go get the one from the tridef forum (search for this...

Out of box experience is rough. No guided on what to do to get 3d working

Worst experience with Samsung

1st unit came DOA, which by itself very disappointing indication of quality issues in high end products. NewEgg's RMA worked ok. 2nd unit works in 2D, but 3D never works. NewEgg offered another RMA for the whole package, but I decided to optimize (my...

Looks are goregous, nice 2D picture ; Will submit another review when/if I get the device to work

Ordered this monitor right after Black Friday hoping to spend almost a month off playing 3D games ; On the last day of my supposed-to-be "gaming vacation" (01/08) I have no more patience postponing this review ; 1. Poor quality control ; 2. TV and...

Don't Buy

Good contrast, color, and clarity. Nice menu system

It says this monitor is 120hz. It is only 120hz if you use the DisplayPort connection. I have a new Geforce GTX 570 with 2 DVI outputs and 1 HDMI output ; The monitor doesn't come with any sort of converter to DP from DVI. I bought a separate cable...

Sweet monitor, not so sweet buttons

The color profile settings are so good that you can even forget that it is a TN panel at times, until certain facial colors show up (especially asian skin tones). If you put this monitor next to another monitor that is not as good you will never want...

This monitor looks amazing even off. It is extremely thin, and has one of the smallest bezels I have ever seen ; Colors, brightness, and contrast are all phenomenal on this monitor, after some small adjustments. Some people say that blacks aren't as...

Took one egg off for the buttons, it is really sad to see such lack of quality on an otherwise amazing monitor by a top notch brand ; The capacitive buttons are tricky to use at first. The center button is almost impossible to press. If you want to...

The bad the good and the beautiful

Politically nVidia also says they won't support this monitor because it gives the ability for other companies to try their hand at 3D renderings. The TriDef 3D launcher system does a better job, when I had it working well, the light bloom/glow effects...

It's certainly a nice looking monitor, even if I think the blacks could be blacker and the whites whiter. Even spent time doing windows color calibration, and it's better, but I know when it's off, and certain other times, black is much blacker

Coming from 3d Vision, this is a nightmare of complication to use the 3d. It's an additional application 'Tridef 3d' which is a launcher which you must add your games to enable 3d glasses. Then, apparently only on ATI 5000+ cards they support...
