Samsung U28D590D

With the Samsung U28D590D, you get a 28-inch monitor with a sharp Ultra-High-Definition (UHD) picture and good all-around performance at a reasonable price.

Highly detailed UHD image. Fast pixel response. Good gray-scale performance

Middling viewing-angle performance. Slightly skewed greens. Limited features

The Samsung U28D590D ($599.99) is the latest reasonably priced big-screen (28-inch) Ultra-High-Definition monitor to hit PC Labs, and like the Philips Brilliance 4K Ultra HD Display (288P6LJEB) and Planar IX2850 , it delivers a sharp, highly detailed...

Samsung U28D590D 28-Inch Ultra HD Monitor Review

We have a fifth 28-inch value-oriented 4K monitor in our lab: Samsung's U28D590D. Based on a familiar TN panel, our benchmarks those this screen to offer remarkable performance for its price.

Video Perspective: Samsung U28D590D 28-in 4K Single Stream 60 Hz Monitor Review

It has been just over a year ago when we first got our hands on a 4K display. At the time, we were using a 50-in Seiki 3840x2160 HDTV that ran at a 30 Hz refresh rate and was disappointing in terms of its gaming experience, but impressive in image...

though that number has fallen to $2400 recently.

Is Samsung's £450 4K monitor the one to buy?

Solid image quality ; 60Hz over DisplayPort ; Stylish design

Poor input lag ; No USB ports ; Lack of stand versatility

Our only qualm came when we’d finally got the U28D590D out of its box and put it together. The tiny stand looks stylish, but it’s not sturdy – a tap on the top of the screen caused some serious wobble.

Samsung UD590: An all-round 4K monitor that doesn't break the bank

The Samsung UD590 is a 28-inch 4K monitor capable of 1 billion colors, and comes with two HDMI and one DisplayPort inputs. Best of all, it costs just S$899. We tell you if it's any good.

Good brightness, grayscale and color performance; Affordable for a 4K monitor; Useful PiP & PbP modes; Very decent input lag and response time

Stand lacks height, swivel, and rotation adjustments; No VESA mount support; Average black levels performance; Still restrictive viewing angles

Samsung U28D590D UHD 4K 28inch Monitor Review

Gary Wolstenholme reviews the ultra high resolution 4K Samsung U28D590D 28inch monitor.

Good image quality ; High resolution for gaming, video and extra workspace ; Two year warranty ; Can display up to 1 billion colours ; Displayport and HDMI cables included in box ; Displayport and 2x HDMI 1.4 inputs ; Ability to connect multiple...

Stand can be a little wobbly ; Controls on the rear can take some getting used to ; High resolution can make text difficult to read ; Special care needs to be taken to ensure your hardware will support the high resolution ; Viewing angles not as good...

Those who work with high resolution video, and photographers may appreciate the acres of working space offered by this 4K monitor. It's more likely that gamers with the correct hardware, or a compatible console will enjoy the high resolution experience...

I too noticed the mouse ghosting some other reviews mentioned. Switching the response time from Fastest to Faster solved this issue completely. I will soon be purchasing a second one. If you plan to game at 4K, you should consider a higher end...

Excellent sharpness and color. Price! Text looks pretty awesome

Some backlight bleed-through is noticeable when screen is very dark/black

Nice, but not that nice.

Very crisp and clear picture. Easy to install

Stand was flimsy. This is a con, but a con on me. But the resolution gave me a headache. Don't know why, but after staring at the screen for a hour, major headache. Tried it again and same thing ; The font was very small at max resolution, which is...

First Impression - replacing Dell 2707 (maybe)

Replacing really nice Dell 2707 28" corner to corner which displays 1920x1200. Wish the Samsung could do 3840x2400. The 6 year old fluorescent lit Dell is a bit brighter but gets so hot that often stinks of cooked electronics - the Samsung is a real...

Very sharp. Pixels are invisible compared to Dell 1920x1200 replaced. Color on the Samsung adjusted and OK. With text, cursor, and icon sizes adjusted everything is super-readable and very sharp. Stand is OK. No heat from the Samsung compared to older...

No Vesa mount. Blue pilot light? - Unlike previous Samsungs the blue light is on when the monitor is off which complicated setup! My ignorance, but the change cost an hour trying to make the monitor work ; Loss of area - going to 16x9 screen from 16x10...

great value

If you're looking to get a 4k monitor, this is the one and this is the price point. They probably won't get much cheaper than this for a long time.

Great value for the price paid. Excellent clarity, great picture, can't say enough

Doesn't support any higher refresh rate than 60 Hz. I don't think there are any 4k monitors out there that do support this yet, and if this one weren't so inexpensive, I would have waited (that could be years though.)
