Video Perspective: Samsung U28D590D 28-in 4K Single Stream 60 Hz Monitor Review

It has been just over a year ago when we first got our hands on a 4K display. At the time, we were using a 50-in Seiki 3840x2160 HDTV that ran at a 30 Hz refresh rate and was disappointing in terms of its gaming experience, but impressive in image...

though that number has fallen to $2400 recently.

Absolutely Amazing!

As far as what people are saying about the stand wobbling. I have not had this problem. I mean you literally have to grab it by its side and push down and watch it bounce. It seems very sturdy to me. Definitely use Display port for the 60hz. I have...

This is by far the best monitor I have owned In quite some time. My previous monitor was a first gen Asus 120hz 3D Monitor. With the resolution I'm working with now I can finally get more Pixel accuracy with my DSLR. As far as Gaming is concerned the...

Samsung 4k Monitor

As of today 4k is not well supported. Know that some of your favorite programs will experience very strange problems if they weren't made with 4k in mind. Small text, scaling errors, and overall buggy performance is very possible, even in popular...

Brilliant bright, high resolution screen. I've encountered no manufacturing defects and the monitor works as advertised ; I like the one-button menu and having the switch on the back of the monitor. It is actually less confusing than other monitor...

The stand could definitely use improvement. While I think some people may have exaggerated the amount of wobble this monitor can experience, it is indeed more than your average stand. It's not a problem unless you violently shake your desk or move the...

Looks Good

Love the real estate it gives you, though I do hope Microsoft does something with the friggin' scaling issue!

Use it primarily for Video Editing in Sony Vegas. Not using for gaming, though it is connected to an Asus GTX 780 DCII card

Besides what others have noted about it not coming back out of sleep mode, not sure if it is the monitor or some issue with either the OS (8.1 64-Bit Pro) or the above graphics card. But quick turn off, then back on, no problem

It's okay

Reading some other reviews, thankfully people post great info... I am waiting for the better video cards and still using a GTX570, I am able to use a 4k desktop, but the video card shuts down eventually playing games in windowed mode. Forget trying to...

Bright and sharp ; Affordable ; picture beside picture is amazing ; picture in picture is cool, but not so useful unless it's TV ; Comes with display port and hdmi cable

Doesn't remember settings, have to set HDMI 1 or Display Port the source is random ; Some settings change, for instance I had PBP set for landscape to view two different devices, somehow it changed to portrait and I had to go back and set it to wide...

Just an awesome monitor

4K is mostly for the future, since it does require a lot of power (SLI or Crossfire X with high end cards are just about mandatory).

A great monitor. Cristal clear without any defects. 4K needs a lot of power for gaming, but if you have that, the images are just outstanding. No ghosting, or other delays at all. Worth every penny. Even when running at 'low' resolutions, it still...

Well, the stand of course. But with a sturdy base/desk, this is not a problem for me, so no need to knock off an egg

4k display, 60hz, sometimes.

Currently, I can get it to run at 3168x1782 at 60hz out of the HDMI port. This is the largest full pixel (no decimals) resolution it will do at 60hz. Found this out through trial and error and some Microsoft Excel magic to get all 16x9 full pixel...

Beautiful picture, wonderful screen, but realize that the (DP) next to the refresh rate stands for DISPLAY PORT

If you just slap an HDMI cord into this and expect it to output 4k resolution at 60hz you will be sorely disappointed. Took me until writing this review to realize it had this tiny bit of information extra. It will only output HDMI's at 30hz at this...

Update on my UHD (After 3 months)

The last update from Samsung was in February. I hope the next update fixes my problems.

The picture is still great

I have owned this device for almost three months now and this is the problems I have been having ; Gaming or plain browsing the web there is slight screen tearing in the middle at random moments. Not often but when it happens I notice it ; The monitor...

Very Nice!

This monitor came perfectly calibrated out of the box. I didn't have to adjust any settings. It does sit a bit higher than my previous monitor (23" Samsung), so I do have to sit up straight so I can hit the TN panel head on for maximum colors. I like...

4K ; 60hz ; 1 billion colors ; 1ms response time

SAMSUNG U28D590D

4K for this price really can't be beat. However after having this monitor for about 1 1/2 months I already have a dead pixel in the top left of the screen. It's not terribly noticeable except when you have a white or light colored background. I have...

4K for a reasonable price, nice looking, good picture

No speakers, flimsy stand
