Video Perspective: Samsung U28D590D 28-in 4K Single Stream 60 Hz Monitor Review

It has been just over a year ago when we first got our hands on a 4K display. At the time, we were using a 50-in Seiki 3840x2160 HDTV that ran at a 30 Hz refresh rate and was disappointing in terms of its gaming experience, but impressive in image...

though that number has fallen to $2400 recently.

4k display, 60hz, sometimes.

Currently, I can get it to run at 3168x1782 at 60hz out of the HDMI port. This is the largest full pixel (no decimals) resolution it will do at 60hz. Found this out through trial and error and some Microsoft Excel magic to get all 16x9 full pixel...

Beautiful picture, wonderful screen, but realize that the (DP) next to the refresh rate stands for DISPLAY PORT

If you just slap an HDMI cord into this and expect it to output 4k resolution at 60hz you will be sorely disappointed. Took me until writing this review to realize it had this tiny bit of information extra. It will only output HDMI's at 30hz at this...

Update on my UHD (After 3 months)

The last update from Samsung was in February. I hope the next update fixes my problems.

The picture is still great

I have owned this device for almost three months now and this is the problems I have been having ; Gaming or plain browsing the web there is slight screen tearing in the middle at random moments. Not often but when it happens I notice it ; The monitor...

Very Nice!

This monitor came perfectly calibrated out of the box. I didn't have to adjust any settings. It does sit a bit higher than my previous monitor (23" Samsung), so I do have to sit up straight so I can hit the TN panel head on for maximum colors. I like...

4K ; 60hz ; 1 billion colors ; 1ms response time

4K for this price really can't be beat. However after having this monitor for about 1 1/2 months I already have a dead pixel in the top left of the screen. It's not terribly noticeable except when you have a white or light colored background. I have...

4K for a reasonable price, nice looking, good picture

No speakers, flimsy stand

Great resolution!!! Great Quality Video.

Get it from Newegg Directly, or someone in the US

The resolution is SO HI. It is true 4X. I had to hook it up to my MacBook Pro 15 in order to get the full resolution out of it

I have to get a new video card to support the higher resolution. Not a bad problem to have ; Its not Retna

Haven't used it yet for photo editing, so feedback on intended use is still out.

Price value ratio for a 4K display capable of 60Hz. Bought this over the Dell specifically because it was 60Hz and not much more

Yes, the stand isn't the most rock solid. But if the display is sitting on a solid desk then it's more than adequate. I wouldn't use this display on a flimsy desk or one on rollers

Very nice.

The GTX Titan Black I ordered to go with this monitor arrived the same day. The drivers on the CD were corrupt and the Nvidia website card auto detect Java applet failed. Thankfully manually searching for the driver downloading and installing solved...

Fast delivery even from Korea ; Good color, brightness, no dead pixels ; Very readable on Windows 7SP1 at 125% scaling increase. 1.50% looked even better but there were compatibility problems with a game ; 3840x2160 resolution is beautiful ; Easy to...

The stand is indeed wobbly. Its ok for me since it is on a stable table

Not for Gaming

I think if you want a nice monitor for photoshop, vidio editing or spreed sheet. With the high res you can get so much more on the screen at one time. I gave it 4 stars and not less because the monitor is nice other than gaming first person. I think a...

Great color, easy menu, comes with drivers for windows, Very sturdy on the stand. Clean front unit

Not as good for gaming, Little lag on high graphics with first person games. When I start my system my icons reset to upper left side of screen

Not Disappointed

Google "Big Buck Bunny 4k" to get a torrent download link for a short animated film in native 4k resolution @60fps. I used VLC to play the file. It is absolutely stunning. To people complaining about the power button. The behavior of the power light...

Everything is so clear. You have never seen text so clear... nor tiny. You will need to increase the font size in your OS unless you have the vision of a hawk and/or sit less than 3 feet from the monitor ; Comics look amazing on this monitor. Anything...

No VESA mount and a wobbly stand, as everyone has said ; I've noticed screen tearing in some games even when using vsync which was not an issue on my old monitor ; When watching Netflix through a browser, it looks absolutely terrible. This is most...
