HP 2159M

HP 2159m

By David Field

HP's 21.5-inch monitor is fairly average for its class - however, in the face of its limitations, the price doesn't add up.

16:9, full HD resolution

HDMI overscans, Glossy screen, Overpriced

HP's 21.5-inch monitor is fairly average for its class — however, in the face of its limitations, the price doesn't add up.

HP w185

HP w185

By Craig Simms

Its limitations mean that the only scenario we can recommend the w185 in is where you need a dirt cheap monitor for extremely basic use, like to throw in a server room. Otherwise if you're looking for quality, we'd look elsewhere.

Low price

Limited adjustment, Poor viewing angles, Poor text quality

Dell ST2310

The ST2310 has a low price and is good for everyday tasks, but it lacks some of the extra features included with similarly priced displays.

It's a good-looking 23-inch monitor, Has HDMI and DVI support at a low price

Low brightness level keeps colours from really popping, It lacks ergonomic options, No extras

Dell UltraSharp U2410

The only way to get better quality than the Dell UltraSharp U2410 is to spend a lot more money - if you need a 24-inch, are on a budget but still need great quality images, we can wholeheartedly recommend this screen.

Great colours, Multiple inputs, Good adjustability, Affordable price

Inset panel can cause reflections

HP 2309m

HP 2309m

By Craig Simms

At a price of AU$649, the 2309m is a decent buy. While it performs well, the blacks aren't as deep as we'd like, and we'd be more tempted to find something with a matte screen to cut down on reflections.

Affordable, OSD allows you to turn off the power light if it annoys, Perfectly good for every day use

Glossy screen, Does not support Blu-ray 24Hz over PS3, Blacks aren't as deep as we'd like, TN based means colour professionals should stay away

At a price of AU$649, the 2309m is a decent buy. While it performs well, we'd be more tempted to find something with a matte screen to cut down on reflections.

Dell S2409W

Dell S2409W

By Eric Franklin

Low price, Great performance in games and movies at optimal viewing angle, Intuitive and elegant OSD, Lots of OSD preset modes

Bad lower viewing angle, Lack of ergonomic support, Includes only a VGA cable, Unstable foot stand

The Dell S2409W is a 24-incher that sacrifices features for price, but makes up for it in performance and ease of use.

BenQ E2200HD / E2400HD

BenQ E2400HD

By Eric Franklin

Low price, Good performance in games and movies at optimal viewing angle, Built-in speakers and headphone jack, Solid foot stand prevents wobbling

Black level not as deep as we prefer, Bad lower viewing angle, Lack of ergonomic support, Includes only a VGA cable

The BenQ E2400HD is a 24-inch monitor that sacrifices features for price, but doesn't have enough going for it to best its competition.
