Macally Turtle Portable Retractable USB Mouse

While the black-and-white design may hint at Apple's laptops, the $19.99 Macally Turtle is (like the rest of Macally's recent mice ) a standard USB peripheral that will work fine on your Windows PC.

Retractable USB cable housed in a hidden compartment.

A bit bulky for a travel mouse.

Macally's otherwise unremarkable Turtle laptop mouse at least has the good sense to keep its USB cable out of sight, thanks to a retractable cord.

Review: Macally Turtle mouse

At first glance, the Macally Turtle appears to be simply an attractive wireless mouse—perhaps a bit small and light (at 2.5 ounces) for desktop use, but a good size for a welcome traveling companion for your laptop.

Though convenient, the cable system isn’t perfect. There’s a miniscule slit in the front of the flip-open door through which you’re supposed to thread the cable before closing the hatch—and if you’re anywhere near as ham-handed as I am, you’ll find...

Works wonderfully!

Got this mouse a few days ago. It's great! Everything works perfectly. It is very precise. The retractable cord fits nicely inside the mouse and doesn't seem likely to get brittle and malfunction (though I wouldn't leave it out in the cold to test...

Macally Turtle

This mouse is a decent enough size that it can be used for almost any job â?? from complex image editing to simple internet browsing

Nice to use ; Distinctive design ; Well-made

The cable feels a bit flimsy and can curl up when fully extended, but these are minor quibbles. Overall, this is an excellent mouse for your money

Useful retractable USB cable

Bulky for travel ; Loud button clicks

The .6 metre cable is stored in a compartment under the mouse, covered by a small flip-open door. Both the cable and the USB plug fit into the compartment, so when it's housed there, this could easily be mistaken for a standard wireless mouse
