If you've ever tried to watch video on your iPod you may have experienced the dilemma of how to position the device to achieve the best viewing angle.
Good access to dock and other ports
Opening in the back is too narrow for 60/80GB iPods to recline adequately
Overall, the Brenthaven Flip Case offers good shock protection and an innovative design. However, its video-viewing slot isn't a great fit for 60GB or 80GB iPods, and the case leaves a good amount of your iPod vulnerable to scratches.

These hand-made cases are manufactured from 45rpm 7in vinyl records, cleverly moulded to hold an iPod - and each case is an original.
Eye-catching, stylish and ironic case, art meets function
Available by import only, limited protection
We like these cases because they are unique and personal, and while they may not score highly in the protection stakes, they are hand-made, not mass-produced, and are a guaranteed conversation starter any time you sit down with a fervent vinyl fan. If ...

Vakaadoo's iVak 5G is a plastic case available in six colours - purple, blue, pink, green, white and black.
Case is sturdy and has a great texture, comes in a nice range of colours
Very difficult to open, no belt clip
The lack of clips or lanyards and the difficulty of opening the case make it less than ideal, but the iVak provides good protection, adding little weight and maintaining the iPod aesthetic. It's one of the most attractive cases we've seen.

If you received a shiny 2G iPod nano for Christmas and want to cosset it in a little coat to keep it scuff and scratch-mark free, then iSkin's sets of three cases could be a top choice for you.
Attractive colours, adds little bulk, you get three in a pack
US import only, no protection provided for the dock connector, belt clip is a little fiddly - though effective
You get three decent-coloured skins inside every pack, each providing an acceptable level of protection without bulking your iPod nano out too much.

The third of three available voice-recording devices for the fifth-generation iPod has finally reached the UK. While it has much to recommend it, some feature opportunities seem to have been missed.
Best price, good recording, easy-to-use
Lack of pass-through adaptor, lack of playback facility, more expensive than previous generation device (due to higher component costs)
Simple to learn and use and the cheapest such solution for 5G iPods available, iTalk records high-quality audio even at a distance. We would like to see a pass-through adaptor, and some may bemoan the lack of playback facility, but overall this is a ...

iSkin has combined the best of both worlds in this svelte and stylish, dual-layer case for the iPod. It's difficult to find a better-conceived solution.
Great protection for your 5G iPod, easy to access iPod scroll wheel, range of colours, belt clip doubles as stand
Large minijack plugs may not fit through the case
iSkin's Claro is a great hybrid design. You end up with essentially two cases; the skin alone is a decent silicone case, and together with the plastic outer case, the Claro offers robust and complete protection.

This FM transmitter for iPods is built to nest in any car equipped with a cup holder. It's easy to set up and control, and offers a decent music experience too.
Stable fit, good transmission, easy to access controls when driving
Only good for cars with cup holders, lacks channel presets, lacks a song skip button.
If your car has a cup holder and you want an FM transmitter for your iPod, it makes sense to use a device like this. A good signal, the capacity to transmit songs from older iPods and other players and the spring-loaded sides that ensure stable fit ...

An attractive leather case that's equipped with a sturdy clip that doubles up as a stand for the iPod with video. It provides some protection, but not from any massive attack.
Carabiner clip, all ports and controls usable, case is also a stand
Limited protection, fiddly to set up as a stand, easy to get dust inside the case
An attractive stylish leather case that doubles up as a stand. The style comes at a price €" protection is limited with the corners left exposed. We like the carabiner clip because you can use it far more flexibly than a belt clip.

Cases are the biggest-selling accessory for all kinds of iPods, so what makes this no-frills silicone case interesting?
Nice to touch, easy to grip, makes your iPod look smart
No significant protection, no added features, over-priced
Let's get real. This case costs just over £10 plus postage and packing charges. And for that kind of money you can get yourself a half-way decent T-shirt, which may not offer a lot of protection for your iPod, but may help you look a little better. ...

Is it the iPod or the music you're slave to the rhythm for? This chunky case is no space saver, but its funky design helps you grab a slice of cool factor.
Looks distinctive, offers good all-round protection, removeable belt clip
Face plate is quite fiddly, belt clip could be more robust
Quite pleasing to look at, this case offers a little idiosyncratic style. It delivers good protection for a silicone case, though the screen protector design may benefit from a different approach, the belt clip seems a bit flimsy.
