New iPod Touch & iPod Nano Reviews

The iPhone 4S actually does have some killer new features. The 2011 iPod refresh, on the other hand, is just that -- a refresh. But sometimes good enough is plenty good enough. Though the newest iPods lack any whiz-bang new features, they're still the...

Now available in white. iOS 5 and iCloud baked-in. Lower- priced 8GB model

Camera is lower-quality than the iPhone’s camera. No bundled headset/remote, just standard Apple earbuds

If you need an iPod, these refreshed models are good buys. But the best news is that owners of previous models can gain all the new functionality with a software update-- so everyone wins! Thanks, Apple.

iPod Touch

Quirks apart, the iPod Touch screams for attention - and scores over its competitors.

The face of the Touch is clean. There's a button at the bottom that takes you back to the main screen, and a button on top to lock or switch off the player. For the benefit of those who came in late on the iPhone hype, get a load of this: navigation is...

Apple iPod Touch

Apple's new iPod feels very much like a version 1.0 product. It does the job, but leaves you wanting more.

Nice screen. Innovative interface. Access to iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store ; Can't edit calendar. No volume control on device. No games. No email. Missing some apps found on the iPhone. Reports of display problems with early-shipping units

As a media player, the iPod touch won't disappoint you, but when you hold one in your hands, it's hard not to think that the device could've offered more. Perhaps Apple will add new features with software updates.

Apple iPod touch (2012)

It's cheerful, colorful and versatile, and though it technically has competition, Apple's iPod touch still stands alone. While we still classify it as an MP3 player, the fully redesigned iPod touch is more like a smartphone without the phone, bringing...

Terrific design and build. Slim and light. Beautiful screen. Tremendous number of apps. Bundled EarPods are much improved

Expensive. Not natively compatible with earlier models' accessories

Apple's beautifully redesigned iPod touch is still the leading do-it-all MP3 player, but the new $300 entry-level price might make it a tough sell.

Apple iPod touch review (2012)

It all started with an iPod touch, a gift from my parents years ago. I've since bought a half-dozen more iPods, two iPhones, an iPad, and a MacBook Air. Somehow I'm sure Apple planned it that way. The touch is the entry point into people's worlds, the...

Great display ; Thin, light build ; Hugely improved camera

No good inexpensive option left ; Speaker and earbuds are unimpressive

Upgrades across the board, but for $300 I'd want the absolute bleeding edge

Apple iPod Touch 2011 (32GB, white)

Editors' note: On October 12, 2011, Apple provided a free software update for the iPod Touch bringing new apps and several refinements to existing features. Visit CNET's iPhone Atlas for an in-depth look at these changes.

Apple's iPod Touch comes with a new color, a new price, and feature-packed OS. It records HD video, chats over video or iMessages, checks your e-mail, keeps your appointments, connects to the cloud, rents movies, plays music, takes pictures, and plays...

Photo quality doesn't hold up to the iPhone 4's; there's no GPS, and no option for 3G data service.

The iPod Touch is the best iPod yet, offering all the fun of the iPhone experience without a carrier contract or monthly bill.

With its beautiful screen and Wi-Fi, the touch subtracts your computer from the song-management equation. Throw in Web browsing and this gizmo may even remove

Movies are simply delicious on the huge, 480 x 320 screen, and it doesn’t get hot during playback. So feature-packed it's almost a stand-alone computer

Version 1.x owners have to pay for upgrade to OS 2.1. Battery life could be better, and 8 video playback stops when power dips below 10 percent

Apple iPod Touch Audio/Video

With its latest iteration of the iPod Touch, Apple has added two highly coveted features--external volume controls and a speaker--and lowered prices, too. However, the Touch's physical changes are incremental, and they don't bring the device up to the...

Includes a Web browser and Wi-Fi ; Beautiful design, easy to operate

Expensive

The Touch remains a tremendous and innovative device, with enticing features, unparalleled ease of use, and plenty of expandability through the App Store. As attractive as it is, though, I still believe it has room to improve. New features coupled with...

Apple 32GB iPod touch (early 2009) Review - PCWorld

To be sure, the lower prices make the Touch a more attractive purchase than before, coming in at $229 for 8GB (previously $299), $299 for 16GB, and $399 for 32GB (down from $499). The prices are more in line with what Apple and AT&T charge for the...

Includes a Web browser and Wi-Fi

Expensive

The iPod Touch remains the class of the field, with beautiful design, useful apps, a touch screen, and built-in Wi-Fi.

Apple iPod Touch Flash-Based MP3 Player

The iPod Touch's beautiful design, useful apps, touch screen, and built-in Wi-Fi outweigh minor audio-quality issues.

Includes a Web browser and Wi-Fi ; Beautiful design, easy to operate

Expensive ; Dark videos can be difficult to see

The iPod Touch is beautifully designed and incredibly fun to use. It still suffers from some performance hiccups, but I'd gladly recommend it to anyone looking for a mobile video player, a portable Web browser, or a high-class way to cart around the...
