The 2015 Apple iPod Touch offers great performance and an impressive camera in a tiny package.

The 4-inch display is far too small, and the battery life is middling. And it's largely redundant if you already have a smartphone or tablet.

The updated iPod Touch remains a great portable media player and overall entertainment device, but its small screen feels like a throwback to an earlier era.

The leading do-it-all media player offers a compelling combination of features and price at $229, as long as you're comfortable with just 16GB of storage.

Even lighter than the 32GB model. Tremendous number of apps. Faster processor and bigger screen than previous budget iPod touch.

Slimmer, souped-up, and candy-colored, the new Touch is an extremely complete pocket computer. But does it make sense in a world of ultracheap tablets? Think of this, instead, as the King of Mini-Media.

Apple puts the iPod nano back on track with its latest version, which sports a sweet new design, a larger touch screen, video playback capabilities, and more.

Very thin and light, yet sturdy. Larger, more responsive touch screen than before. Bundled EarPods are much improved. Finally supports wireless stereo Bluetooth streaming. Includes a pedometer and Fitness app. Stellar battery life.

It all started with an iPod touch, a gift from my parents years ago. I've since bought a half-dozen more iPods, two iPhones, an iPad, and a MacBook Air. Somehow I'm sure Apple planned it that way....
