The Archos 504 is available in 40GB, 80GB, and 160GB capacities; gorgeous 4.3-inch wide screen; a decent choice of accessory options; can record audio and video with the optional kit; has a removable battery; nice tactile controls and sophisticated...

The Archos 504 is bulky; must purchase separate kit to record audio/video; must purchase separate kit to get a power adapter; weak bundled accessories; proprietary USB cable; no kickstand; not easy to operate blindly.

Measurable bulk and pricey 160GB version aside, the do-it-all Archos 504 is an awesome A/V performer.

Great- but only good when nickel-and-dimed

If you buy an external USB hub, you should be able to charge the Archos much faster on your PC. Like AC fast. So don't even bother with AC unless you plan to travel with it and use it a lot. Overall, worth the ton of money you've dished out by the time...

Cost. Has tons of expansions. Plays all files without question unless it's MP-2, H.263&4, or an old codec. It's very nice. The screen is big, bright, and has great contrast (which may be a con because you can see low-bitrate movies' lack of bitrate)....

It's pretty big for a pocket. They are nickel-and-diming you out of house and home with all of these expansions they don't sell with the product. Without the expansions, I have no idea what use it has to me. MPEG-2 video, H.263&4 video, AC3 sound, and...

Buyer Beware

1st 80GB unit had dreaded static electricity death after 3 days. Known defect by Archos 'supposedly' only in some units. They cannot fix it. Touch it = shut down. 2nd unit (also bought at Newegg)= no static issue from June 07 to Dec 07. Then in Jan 08...

Capacity. Beautiful Picture. Plays most everything I put in it well

Suspect long term quality. I have bought two 504's from New Egg. Both have now failed in some way. (See below for terrible In WARRANTY Archos support options)

A Pain

I bought this thing specifically so that I could put some of my VHS tapes on to and convert them which I cannot do. Wish I could return for full refund but exchange only. VERY DISAPPOINTED
