Finis SwiMP3

By Jasmine France (cnet.com)

Utilizes innovative bone-conduction audio technology ; sounds fine underwater ; allows swimmers to break up the splashy monotony with tunes ; comes with its own goggles but can be used with other brands

Expensive ; placement of controls on the back of the head makes it difficult to operate ; excessively loud if not placed directly against cheekbones ; can cause nausea ; doesn't include wall charger

The SwiMP3 could add some fun to your swim routine, if you can afford it--just beware of potential nausea-inducing inner ear imbalance.

Without a doubt, Finis's SwiMP3 (128MB, $250) is the most unusual MP3 player...

I'm surprised that in this day of tiny, relatively inexpensive flash memory...

Good music quality

If the ear pieces slide up to your ear, the sound is very high pitched, almost painful. You need to make sure to keep the ear pieces (whatever they're called) on the cheek bone.

Manufacturer's Description

The SwiMP3's innovative sound transfer technology offers exception underwater sound quality. Standard players rely on the transmission of sound through air or water causing the swimmer to perceive only muffled noise.
