Performance

Frontier Labs L1 (20GB)

Large, easy-to-read display; FM, line-in, and voice recording; speedy file transfers.

Poor sound quality; some functions confusing; doesn't use standard-size headphone jack.

Although the L1 isn't lacking for features, it's easy to find better hard drive-based players.

Frontier Labs L1

The L1 is reasonably compact, and $299 direct is not a bad price for a 20GB player with an FM tuner. But both the hardware and the software need some polishing before Frontier Labs can play with the big boys.
