Is iTunes 7 truly the most significant enhancement to iTunes since Apple first introduced the program? A more organized interface, new Album and CoverFlow views, gapless playback, and tighter iPod integration hint that it is. But its premiere release...

More organized interface ; Album and CoverFlow views ; gapless playback ; tighter iPod integration

Can be unstable with third-party plug-ins, applications, and hardware ; artwork isn't always updated completely ; doesn't recognize many compilation recordings

Each of these enhancements and features makes for a better and brighter iTunes, but I'd like more-specifically, more stability and more refinement

Steve Jobs proclaimed that iTunes was the "most significant enhancement to iTunes since we introduced it in 2001". Given iTunes multitude of talents, that's a mighty impressive claim. And Steve's not far off the mark.

Gapless playback, album art downloads, improved iPod preferences manager, CoverFlow view, download manger, library backup, the list goes on

Still can't change multiple video kind information, or redownload tracks bought from the iTunes store and lost ; movies and TV shows still not available in UK

Because both updates to iTunes and the iPod are free, getting them is a no-brainer. However, iTunes 7 is a substantial improvement with a variety of new features that are both visually arresting and functional. There's always room for improvement, but...

Taking into consideration the popularity of Apple's iPod, it's little wonder iTunes is regularly lauded as the media player of choice.
