Microsoft Zune (third generation, 16GB, black) review

By (cnet.com)

The Microsoft Zune MP3 player has expanded the usefulness of its Wi-Fi and social music-discovery features, added support for games and audiobooks, and maintained enviable features, such as a glass-covered LCD, friendly interface, exceptional ...

Video playback battery life isn't great; the glossy plastic front is more prone to scratches and smudges; and using many of the new features without a Zune Pass music subscription can be disappointing

The smaller, flash-based Zune, with a unique focus on music discovery, is a fierce competitor to the iPod Nano.

Microsoft Zune (second generation, 80GB, red) review

By Donald Bell (cnet.com)

The 80GB Microsoft Zune MP3 player features a 3.2-inch glass LCD ; a user-friendly interface ; exceptional navigation control ; audio and video podcast support ; a superlative FM radio with RBDS information ; wireless syncing and sharing ; high ...

The Zune is a PC-only device that requires its own software and still does not support older WMA-DRM9 music files ; Zune Marketplace does not offer TV or movie downloads ; the USB connection is proprietary ; no Wi-Fi music streaming ; and the EQ ...

The Zune has blossomed from an ugly duckling into a worthy iPod alternative.

Existing Zune loyalists will be very happy to know that Microsoft is offering...

Zune 16GB

By Ginny Mies (pcworld.com)

When PC World reviewed Microsoft's previous Zune flash player last fall, we questioned whether support for wireless and for video was overkill on a device that holds only 8GB of content. This fall, Microsoft addressed the storage limitations by adding ...

Wireless browsing, FM tuner Intuitive interface and controls

Bulky compared to other flash players New firmware not preinstalled

Other updates include Audible.com audiobook support, a couple of free games (Texas Hold 'Em and a puzzle game), and a home-screen clock

But other than expanded storage and a glossy black case, the main changes...

"Great Player with ease of use!"

By oratius54 (cnet.com)

A great player for the price. For $15 a month...

great sound...software is easy to upload and once you learn the site it is easy to play, organize and sync tunes. The player is also easy...I like the touch pad's ease. I bought a tough skin for my player, so I don't worry about scratches, etc

My only complaint is the headphones. The ear pieces are too big for my ears and the felt pieces they give for comfort are cheesy. I bought a pair of over the ear headphones. I use my Zune mostly at home
