The Philips GoGear SA6025 is a decent flash based media player for those looking for something simple and competent.

How well does Philips do music and video?

The Philips GoGear SA6025 is great if you're willing to regularly swap and change the files contained on it. However, for the asking price we feel it's a little expensive for what's on offer.

Philips GoGear SA6025 review

Big is the new small for the Philip's latest MP3 player

Very cheap ; Large screen

Too much wasted space ; A shameless iPod rip-off

It's not the worst player around but it needs better buttons and less girth

Philips GoGear SA6025

Philips' additions to the PMP market are quite worthy of attention. The company employs sleek designs, large clear interfaces, and navigation menus that are a breeze to use. But sadly there's always something missing that could have made their devices...

Battery Finally the battery. The SA6250 uses a 800mAh. Li-Polymer battery which is really good. It dishes out a good 14-plus hours of music and at least 3 hours and 40 minutes of video. That’s around a full movie and a little more than half of the...

Philips' latest video player is black and shiny with a tempting price tag, but lacks the basic talents needed to take on its contemporaries

Nice to hold. Easy to use. Plenty of versatility for the money. Good software.

At best, sounds lifeless and abrasive. Video playback is queasy. Memory fills up fast.

Philips GoGear SA6025 review

There are a lot of decent MP3 players around, but they all suffer from one fundamental flaw: they're not iPods. To go up against an iconic market-leader like the Apple, a product had better have one or two significant tricks up its sleeve if it's not...

An odd one, this. It's nearly full iPod-sized, despite being a mere 2-4GB. A lot of folk will find it less appealing than all the other flash-based players, wanting something they can carry without noticing.

Great Solid Player

This is a nice player and a great affordable replacement for higher end players. Songbird could be available on more OS platforms, but the device easily mounts as a hard drive in linux, so it works out well except you can only upgrade the firmware on a...

Solidly built with a nice metal finish. Uses a simple USB cable with a common USB mini jack so replacement cables are easy. Sounds great, really really great sound. I can hear, I mean really hear the difference between tracks on MP3 and FLAC and can...

The click buttons are kind of rough and take a bit to depress. This is actually nice in some ways because it's really hard to accidentally hit them but it makes browsing kind of suck sometimes. I keep getting sync errors with no log or output file to...

Great mp3 Player for the money.

If you happen to do what I did and accidently step on and break the flimsy little Ipod shuffle charger only to find out a replacement is exorbitant price vs replacing a USB cable for the Philips Go Gear which I had to do because I lost it in the move...

The EQ is actually quite good ; Menu Layout is simple to use ; If you've ever used a flash drive to transfer files it's the exact same method to transfer music and files to the go gear, very simple and fast. NO ITUNES Required Which is a huge plus ;...

Is a bit slow in the menus ; Could pump out a bit more sound ; The head phones it comes with don't stay in your ear very well, Had to replace with ones that wrap slightly around your ear so they don't fall out while excerising, had to do the same for...
