Pure DigitalOne

If anyone can prove portable DAB radio can be cheap and cheerful, Pure Digital can. And have, in fact

Compact and inexpensive. Nice text features. Crisp, detailed sound

Feels a bit flimsy. Sound could do with more weight

PURE Digital One review

Finally someone has had the guts to bring out a well-made, affordable digital radio. PURE is well respected for its high-end DABs, and now it's proven itself at the budget end of the market. If you'd like to dabble in DAB without selling off important...

Neatly designed chassis ; Decent audio quality ; Simple control system

No programme guide

If you're looking to venture into the world of digital radio, but aren't sure about local reception, the One lets you dip your feet in the DAB stream without financially crippling you. If it turns out you do have bad reception, you can always revert...

Pure Digital ONE

Imagine if Apple released a budget version of its iPod that was made of black shiny plastic that didn't have a clickwheel - and cost only £50. That may not be Apple's style, but that's the approach Pure Digital has taken...

Tiny, portable

Could handle sound a little better

It does the job on mono, low bit rate DAB stations just fine. Anything else, it struggles. Not the worst £50 you'll ever spend

I'm pleased with my Pure One (and Pure Sonus come to that)and it works well bearing in mind the limitations of digital radio.

The Pure One works really well as a portable, I take mine out in the garden and it accompanied me on a camp out. The sleep/timer facilities are really useful as it the fact that it's also equipped with FM should you ned it.

Like all digital radios, it's power hungry and you definitely need the rechargable power pack so it's not as "green" as a small FM/AM portable.
