Samsung YEPP YH-999 PMC (20GB)

First, the basic design is different from that of most portable video players, including the Creative Zen and the iRiver PMP-120 . These devices use a horizontal, Game Boy-like design with the screen at the center and navigation and selection buttons...

Compact, ergonomic, and visually appealing design; built-in kickstand; strong bookmarking feature; intuitive PMC software; impressive integration with Windows Media Player 10.0 and Windows XP Media Center Edition (MCE).

Subpar battery life; no removable battery; no programmable preset buttons; controller buttons a bit small; no audio- or video-recording capabilities; works with Windows XP and Windows Media Player 10.0 only; no higher-capacity option; average audio...

If you want the most stylish PMC, look no further than the YH-999; if you need a battery that goes the distance, try elsewhere.

Samsung YH-999

So you've just managed to get yourself that spiffy new mp3 player. They've been on the market for a while now, but prices have come down, and features have gone up, so you decided it's time to be on the cutting edge of technology and forgo CDs for...

While the YP-999 is the smallest and most portable PMC yet, there were some sacrifices made to get there.

"The Media Mobile Player that is tied to XP"

I got this media player 5 years ago and I had problem with syncing. So I basically bailed out using it and as soon as the Windows Vista and 7 came , thats the end of this player.Such a waste. It has a nice video monitor.

Monitor is very good, navigation is easy, audio is good.

ONLY works with Windows XP and Media Player 10..

"Best Media Player"

I looked at all the available Portable Media Centers and this was by far the best. I like all the features of this pmc. The video quality is excellent. The only thing I notice in the product is a very slight graininess in the sound quality that is...

Battery Life; Screen Quality; Portability; Built-in Speaker

Sound is slightly grainy; Poor Output Video quality

"If your pc doesn't have a tv tuner don't bother unless you want to use it as an IPOD"

Too bad I didn;t check CNET first. I bought this thinking that I could use it for downloading movies. Yes one can download movies but the population of movies is minimal and none have ever been seen or shown in a movie theatre. My PC is relatively new...

Compact; Screen is viewable in most lights

Without a TV Tuner its only good for music and personal videos

"Great mobile media center!"

I researched the Creative and IRiver products and settled on the Samsung PMC. I am delighted so far with this device. I am a Napster subscriber so I was looking for an product that was compatible with the Napster to Go subscription but would easily...

Stores everything and easy to use

Bigger than most mp3 players, would love 40gb

"Smallest PMC ever...."

Creative and iRiver were first to market with a Portable Media Center (PMC), but Samsung took the time to get the design right. The $500 Samsung YH-999 is the only PMC that is nearly as portable as a hard drive-based MP3 player or other single-purpose...

small size, good battery life, and sexy

doesn't have a removable battery...

"Samsung Portable Media Center is a great PMC to have."

I love this PMC, I had the Crative PMC but I took it back to the store because I didnt like hte size of it... The Samsung PMC is small and great to take around with.. Its not like taking a brick around with you..

The size is great, not big like the creative....

None, No cons about this PMC
