Performance

Samsung YEPP YH-820MC

Petite form factor; photo slide-show capabilities; color display; high-quality recording through microphone; line-in MP3 encoding; SRS Wow and TruBass support; compatible with OGG, DRM-protected WMA, and subscription-based downloads (Janus); on-the-fly...

No FM radio; batteries can't be replaced, display is small for viewing photos; unimpressive USB 2.0 download speed and battery life; proprietary USB/power cable; slight processor delays.

Samsung's YEPP YH-820MC isn't quite as slick as the iPod Mini, but it's smaller and offers features that the Apple player lacks, such as recording capabilities and a photo-friendly display.

Samsung YH-820 iPod Killer?

The world is going portable and gadget crazy. A couple years ago, MP3 players started to take off. The initial models were large, slow, clunky, and didn't offer a lot of storage. Since then flash media has come a long way and now Flash-memory based...

The Samsung YH-820 is one classy unit. It features a solid aluminum case and is very simple to use. With it's tiny physical size, and 5GB storage capacity, this unit has a place in every music lovers pocket. Featuring a color screen and picture...

The YH-820 is a solid MP3 player which is let down by some very annoying problems. We can't help but feel it could have offered a whole lot more.

Sound quality and equalization settings, sturdy build, FM Radio

Battery life, tacky control pad, small screen, poor quality headphones, slow interface, poor quality headphones

Samsung YH-820 review

A 5GB MP3 player that fits neatly into a child's mitten

Not flash-based ; HDD ; Lightweight and cute ; Voice recorder

Slow to find tracks ; Cheap earphones ; Poor playback time

This is a funky fella, but there are better alternatives for your money from the likes of Apple and Creative

Samsung YH-820

The Samsung YH-820 pulls a mean blade on the Apple iPod, but this tiny MP3 player doesn't have enough clout to inflict serious damage.

Svelte profile ; Solid build

Short battery life ; Occasional crashes

Samsung YH-820

The newest kid on the mid-range MP3 player block, the Samsung YH-820 is a feature-packed player with one major flaw...

Where it falls down is in staying power, with a meagre battery life of eight hours that puts it far behind its rivals.

It came down to this player and the Mini Ipod. This player has 5 GB and the Mini only 4GB. Mini has no built in voice recorder. I use the the voice recorder a lot for law school lectures and this was an important feature. (Ipod offers an extra ...
